Had no clue I had to go back to the sun-worshipper and advance that way, so after first bell went to old londo, cleared out ghosts and wondered what I'd do next.

There are numerous routes and areas to take to progress in the story. You have to fight the Taurus demon (located in the streets of the Undead Burg) to progress into the Depths where you can reach Blighttown to ring the second bell. Alternatively you could simply head to Darkroot Basin, go through the cave protected by a black knight, battle through the valley of drakes and then you'll come across a huge cave with Ogres in which also leads to Blighttown (you'll also find a short-cut leading to the Firelink Shrine in the valley).

Of course you could simply head to the catacombs to aquire the rite of kindling. There's also the whole Darkroot region to explore which contains two bosses (one who is optional, the other one you will need to defeat way down the line at some point anyway) as well as tons of loot, a faction to join and a kraken to fight.

So what's this I hear about a skeleton key? Seems that I've gone back into that hell for no reason at all now.

There's nothing in New Londo save for the loot at the moment. You can only progress further in this area once you aquire the lordvessel in which case Ingward (the guy who fixes the curses) will give you a key to lower the water. Although I hear you can just kill him for this too (although since you're getting destroyed by the ghosts you'd have no chance against the Darkwraiths who reside in the lower levels of New Londo once it is drained of water).

I remember fighting my way through New Londo in my first play-through just to realize there was nothing there for me. However the curse bite ring I found in the abandoned church there proved to be useful later on in the game (it boosts your resistance to curses by a great deal, to the point where it's hard for an enemy to curse you).

Skeleton key? I think you're referring to the master key which opens quite a few locks in the game. I believe you can buy it from some merchant later on. It's also a starting gift for those who choose it.

I do wonder if doing what I please is a good idea when running a fever. That whole thing with ghosts and curses and stuff just took away all motivation and beauty in playing Dark Souls, though it may be temporary. Yet I love the game, even that half my day was for naught. Go figure.

Ok, the ring against curses does seem to have its uses. I didn't yet equip it and regretted this a moment's time later when under the Burg there were these eyeball things that turned me into **** and left my as-was unlevelled health at half. So, how do I go about lifting my curse now? I'm so fed up with New Londo that going to visit Ingwards falls out of the question.

Oswald of Carim, the guy you run into in the bell tower after you beat the Bell Gargoyles sells purging stones for 3000 souls a pop. It's the cheapest you'll get them.

The female undead merchant that's waiting at the end of the shortcut/hall linking Firelink Shrine and the Undead Burg also sells them, but they're more expensive.

Thankfully curse frogs aren't that common of an enemy.

Ok, thanks! He's easy enough to get to.

edit: in other news, now I went into the catacombs before that lower Burg thing, and am finding it hard to stay positive. Those skeleton wheel thingies + the dark knight with a flail not to mention the jump down have lost me some oh 50 000 souls + 10 humanity or so. Magnificent. :?

edit: Defeated that easy boss finally. Yet managed to lose the 25 k I was carrying and got from him. Don't know if I've lost more here than in New Londo.

So guys, I'm venturing back into Sen's Fortress after having my arse handed to me plenty of times.

What shall I use against the serpent soldiers: Titanite Catch Pole +3 (162 damage, 188 blue picture thingy) or my lightning spear (144 damage, 0 blue sword thingy and 144 lightning damage)?

Edit: Ah bollocks, pushed off the side.

Edit 2: No wonder I gave up here.

I lure the serpent soldiers on the bridges forward with arrows until the blades bonk them off into the pit. If memory serves, they're weak to lightning, but use whichever weapon you're better with.

DON'T. Trust me, Sen's is far-and-away the most frustrating area in the game. Once you complete it, nothing will faze you.

Except Dragonslayer Greatbows, but you'll cross that bridge when you come to it.

Or you'll get shot off that bridge, anyway.

I just found out that the sleeping serpent stands at a wall that can be broke! No way! Is this the end of the fortress?!

Nope, you still have many more pendulum blades and giant.... giants awaiting you.

And a merchant atop the fortress that sells THE BEST ARMOR IN THE GAME*.

I can't break it down now, I tried the large and great club but no effect. I only broke it down when I jumped from the ledge and did a heavy attack.

Okay, the serpent guard knocked it down himself, ventured inside and there is a sorcerer stuck in the cage, at the end you can see the entrance.

Anyway, I noticed the boulders don't come down. What gives? I'm not complaining or anything but it's stopped coming down.

There's a contraption you rotate that directs the boulders down one of four paths. They're still rolling somewhere, just not where you happen to be.

I did! I finally made it to the top and found the dragon crest ring. Okay, I'm back to where I remember and it's at the top of where the boulders are launched.

It's a sprint between very close swinging axes. I'm scared. Give me tips!

Once you are at the top of the fortress, near the giants, a bonfire is on a ledge to the right. Once at the very top, sprint up stairs, go to the right quickly and there is a hidden bonfire close to the ledge. Light and rest and you have a checkpoint. There is also a solid soul farming route once the explosive shell giant is killed.

Lol. Keep at it! You can do it, just be determined, focused, and mindful that its a fun challenge and true challenge. You are already halfway through Dark Souls!!! It's all downhill from Sen's Fortress, other then Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, of course :P

I will go back on tonight but I got a meal later, I can't believe I conquered the trials inside, only to be incinerated by a god damn giant launching bombs at me, then to top it off, some random soldier on the stairs decided to join in the fun of ruining my day.

You didn't even unlock the short cut did you? There's also a bonfire at the top. Basically there's a ledge which looks like you can walk off. Beneath you'll fall down to the bonfire. Anor London archers? Summon help and you'll get past first go.

I was too busy trying to find the source of the explosions and then trying to run away from it. I just panicked and ran in any direction.

The bonfire is right after you go outside from the very top of the last swinging axes. You can see a hole in the wall on the far side as you are crossing the last small platform of swinging axes, that's where you hop back down from the bonfire. As soon as you get outside, run to your left, up the first set of stairs, then go to your right to the ledge, and you'll see a very tiny balcony with the bonfire. Lol I remember dying from that mortar giant, too, lol I got so frustrated. When I found the bonfire I literally jumped up and did a dance, because even if you die then until you get the giant you are at the top. Keep pressing, you are almost there.

^ Okay, I'm on the stairs and can see the giant. I need to go outside, turn left quickly before I get blown back to my bonfire?

I don't understand, is this hole inside or out? I just crossed the final path which is thin and has a lizard attempt to zap you, I turn left there or go up the stairs, onto the roof and then turn left?

If I turn left and right, there is a hole in the floor which I can't see the bottom, there is also a pressure trap there as well.

I had a quick look out on the roof and up the stairs and see no hole.

My first time through Sen's Fortress was the most exhilarating/tense/frightening gaming experience I've ever had. The traps were one thing, but getting invaded as well took it over the top. Its a fun place to invade/get invaded since all sorts of things can go wonderfully wrong with all the traps. I once caught someone on the top narrow bridge and they knew they were in a bad spot. After exchanging *shrugs* I dragon arrowed him/her off but we exchanged "lol" messages afterwards.

I haven't been invaded before. Too busy dying and being a blood zombie.

I've invaded once just to see what happens. Anywhere I saw another invader and presumed we were working together to ruin someone's day, he punched me and I died. I lasted what, a minute?

I've killed a giant that was opposite the white wall, I kept jabbing him inside the tower and killed him. Got 3000 souls for it, next stop, the even bigger bugger. Any tips you want to share apart from don't die?

I might kindle this bonfire.
