Capra's not so tough if you can survive those first few seconds, Kill the dogs as fast as you can so they won't bother you. Try and rush for the stairs and make them follow you, kill them up there.

I kill him in 5 blows I think, the titanite catch pole is really good, quite funny as it looks like i'm killing the thiefs with a plonk on the head.

The butcher nearly killed me, thought he would be a merchant. Got tricked into going down to see the giant rat but managed to get out with the wayward bone.

That titanite catch pole is a rare drop. I never got one until my second playthrough, when it was pretty much obsolete.

edit:derp again. you obviously already found the depths.

Keep on the lookout for a room with a bunch of barrels in it...don't attack them, roll into them. You don't wanna kill the NPC inside one of them...

Another tip: the depths is a good place to farm humanity and early upgrade materials. Rats drop humanities (once you get the item drop boost ring later on, you'll be drowning in humanity should you decide to come back to the depths) and slimes drop basic and green titanite shards.

And just in case... you may want to backtrack and purchase a few purging stones from the female undead merchant. If you're like me, when you encounter a room full of stupid curse frogs, you'll panic. They're easy to get rid of, but stand a second or two in that mist they spew and it's over.

Curse status is BAD. Thankfully not a lot of monsters can inflict it.

Thanks for the tip, I found a green titantite shard when I fell down a hole and landed inside this tunnel and the skeleton blacksmith says hi, man, I thought I was screwed!

The female merchant is quite...something...:P

Elton John, what the hell is that thing? Is that a boss? Mini boss or a standard enemy?!

It's a standard enemy. Have fun in Blighttown.

...they only bother you if you approach them, though.

That's a ****ing frog?! That god damn smoke, bloody hell.

I fell down a hole, and got cornered by them.

EDIT: Your joking, I just got consumed by a lump of what looks like feces?!

Those frog things are nightmarish. Really unsettling appearance. Even though the game has a lot of other monsters that fit that criteria, it's the frogs that freak me the heck out every time I play the game.

Wait...

**** ate you?

You didn't get killed by **** did you? Coz you should be ashamed if you got killed by one of the slowest moving and predictable enemies in the game...

Unless of course you were low on health and got killed by one of the ones that drop down on you. Seriously I do wonder what half of the stuff is in The Depths. Some of it is even moving. Perhaps such things should be left out of the imagination considering the place is a sewer...

(I wouldn't think those slow moving lumps are feces that have somehow come alive as they have spikes that they can use to attack but I mean then again this is Dark Souls we're talking about...)

Been thinking about buying Dark Souls. Should I buy Demon Souls as well? Not asking b/c of story reasons, but more from a gameplay one?

You might as well. You can pick it up cheap too so getting both would guarantee you a lengthy period of time playing them both.

Lol, I have my reasons/excuses.

1. I had no idea what slimes looked like, I imagined them to be green.

2. I mistaken the slimes for those slime sacs you see around.

3. I swear one jumped from the roof. But yeah I had low health (I was cursed and trying to get my souls back).

I died as the result of a slime once because some jerk decided to leave a "be wary of up" warning directly beneath a slime. I had to laugh at myself.

The slime above the item is a common death trap. A good spot to introduce them. One of the few gotcha moments in the game...but done well.

After a hiatus from Dark Souls, I proudly confirm I have slain the gaping dragon and claimed it's tail! Blight town, here I come!

EDIT: I still think the Taurus demon is the hardest boss I have yet encountered...

EDIT 2: What the hell killed me?! I fell through a wooden floor and dropped dead?!

Congrats, Naughty! I keep forgetting to chop off its tail. Third time's a charm, I s'pose.
And while Blighttown can be intimidating at first, you'll pull through. For me, reaching the swamp bonfire was almost like defeating a boss.

EDIT: I still think the Taurus demon is the hardest boss I have yet encountered...

I had a bit of trouble with the next boss you'll face. Not a lot of trouble, mind you, but a little. Blighttown itself is the real trouble.

EDIT 2: What the hell killed me?! I fell through a wooden floor and dropped dead?!

Welcome to Blighttown.

I tried killing that massive crow, I did some damage but then it flies away, how can I kill it?

Fell to my doom. Seriously, does everything move down here?! Good thing I found the bonfire.

I got to admit, I really like this eastern equipment, I hope Dark Souls 2 takes part in the east, some cool designs.

I'm stuck.

I can easily pass the moving rickety bridge but another one has a stump right at the beginning, trying to get around but I just bounce off and fall?

EDIT: DAMN YOU, MOTH!

Blighttown is one big death trap. The designers designed intentionally for you to depise it. You will come to know the true meaning of "pesky mosquito". Also....watch your head.
