 We need an answer Bioware

I have been asking for an answer for quite a while. This will be very simple. It is a yes or no question.

Here is the Question:

Will Female Dwarves be included in Dragon Age 3: Inquisition? Yes or no

I believe it's been strongly hinted that they will, yes.

They damn well better. They could have changed the gender of at least a dwarf or two in Dragon Age II or at least had some in the Legacy DLC. I don't what their reason was for not including female dwarves in the sequel, but it felt weird.

I don't think that the lack of female Dwarves in DA2 was that big of a deal. In many ways, it made a lot of sense from a story perspective. The feeling that I got from my short time in Orzammar in DA:O was that Dwarves and their families are often pulled into the track that the men in the family set out for them, except for in rare circumstances. This is very similar to how humans were in many regions in the past and in ancient times. The one exception to this rule is if that Dwarf goes to the surface, in which case then it becomes extremely reprehensible for the Dwarf's family to leave as well.

The point is, it makes sense that the only Dwarves you find on the surface in Kirkwall are male because of this fact. If you remember from DA:O you meet very few surface female dwarves as well. The only ones I can think of were Felsi and the student Dwarf (forget her name), and that is only if you convince her to go to the Circle.

Is that an excuse for completely removing them from the game? Keep in mind some of the most fun DAO characters were Fem Dwarves (Branka, Hespith, Sigrun) and they were also A PLAYABLE GROUP. So I don't think thats any excuse for them to just not exist.

My answer was most likely and due to fan feedback, I think the Magic 8 Ball has got it right yet again. And there will definitely be a reference to their disappearance if they are in the game, just a little funny easter egg obviously, not a major plot point.

I think the general idea is to have a ton more content than DA2 had, and content done better.

With increased content comes increased usage of body types (like female dwarves). If there was going to only be one case of it in DA2, that wouldn't really be cost effective. The same goes for a female Kossith.

But, with more locations and content, they run the increased chance of having encounters with multiple females of different races, so they can recycle some resources.

The "excuse" was that we needed to do new models for them-- it's not a matter of them having some "right" to exist, but whether we actually had a need for those models... and we didn't. Doing those models would have meant not having models for something else which would have been missed a lot more. Yes, it would have been nice to have had time to make more content of all kinds, but we did not.

But that was DA2. This is DA3. Assuming we have a need for female dwarves in the game, then they'll be there. If not, then they won't. I don't see anyone needing an answer to that just yet.

I'm curious as to why you're so gung-ho about these models existing just for the sake of existing. It's not like you would've been able to do anything meaningful but look at them in Da2.You know what... don't answer me, I'm good.

Lack of resources. The same reason you see male-only races in any game. Notice that Mass Effect is getting female turians in DLC for the third game.

It's because female dwarves and qunari are the easiest to not miss.

Then here's hoping you have a need!

Also, I'm amused that your answer was, basically, "If female dwarves are in the game, then female dwarves will be in the game. If female dwarves are not in the game, they will not be in the game". Well played.

Guess it's another one chalk up to the list of was in DA:O but no longer train.

Joins the list of selectable races, finishing moves, toolset, atheism, and now race/character models that used to exist. Probably others I've forgotten.

You guys want a kickstarter fund or something? Seems your resources are, well, limited to say the least.

So you're cutting out an entire gender of a race from the game based on costs. Why don't you cut the dwarven men out? Or would that be offensive to you in a way that keeping dwarven women unseen and almost unspoken about wouldn't be?

I don't miss the female dwarves, they reminded me of orangutans, and orangutans are creepy.

They had an 11 month development cycle.  Having no female dwarves saved them the trouble of designing female dwarves (remember, they changed the art style for DA2 so everything had to be built fresh).

Since DA2 would have worked as a narrative with no dwarves at all outside of Varric and Bartrand, having BioWare do a bunch of extra work to shoehorn in a female dwarf would have been a waste of their time.

I certainly hope to see female dwarves in DA3, but I hope for a lot of things in DA3 I'm not likely to get.

We keep saying this: We will not be discussing story/gameplay/game questions until next year.

So, sorry Fawa, but we will not be saying whether they are or are not in DA3 until next year. Check back again in the spring. :)

Sorry, not going to stop pointing out the horrible implications of removing an entire gender just because you'd rather not think about it.
