Sometimes, siding with a side is never the answer. Always stay in the middle...my idea on life.

Anybody who wants to be able to kill her or wants to make her "regret her attitude"? I'm not going to mince words; You're an idiot. Fact is, she's the only one keeping the lid on the pot. As bad as she is, she's the only reason Omega isn't a constant war zone between merc groups. Without Aria, Omega is just a slaughterhouse of innocent people getting dragged into the conflicts, everyone trying to get above the rest and damn the consequences. Like her or not, Omega functions as an actual society only under her rule. That's not opinion, that's objective fact. Why do you think Garrus never focused on her? Because he too realized that Omega is better with Aria in control then not in her control. Garrus knew that taking her out would just make things even worse then they were to start with. It's also the reason paragon Shepard supports her, she's a necessary evil to keep worse evil from making Omega a bloodbath. For a paragon, you want her in power. If she isn't the leader then someone else would be, with dozens of merc gangs fighting daily to take over for themselves.
Renegade Shepard's like her because they're similar. Paragon Shepard's tolerate her because she's all that stands between Omega just being a horrible place and Omega being a hellish war that never ends..
Well, those are certainly her claims. Obviously, I disagree. Criminals who claim that some amount of crime is necessary make me laugh. The target is zero crime and while I'd be willing to target her competitiors first, sooner or later Aria herself would be on the chopping block a la Helena Blake.
More importantly, there isn't even an option to simply dislike her. I can see a rationale for not coming to blows with her just yet - it's something that needs to be done, but Shepard's sort of busy - but all the conversations involving her feature either tail-wagging delight or begrudging respect. I want thinly veiled contempt. I want an option to have my character hate Aria and everything she stands for, and to be as annoyed by her 'one rule' as I am.
I hear ya man, for me the option to have a choice to take Aria's sh!t or.. at the very least give a little back doesn't seem to balance out at all, for a character as big as Aria is (albeit a peripheral one), in my view you should be able to establish a better relationship with her, including a negative one in accordance with your Shepard's background (a background we built over 3 games).
I hated the fact we really have no choice at all when it comes to Aria's BS. My Shepard is a hardnosed renegade badass and seeing as it's a role playing game it kind of ruins the role playing experience a bit having to mellow out on account of a character the devs apparently love so much that they make it impossible to show any disapproval towards her at any point.
I know it's a minor gripe and i probably shouldn't care this much but for such an immersive gaming experience which the mass effect games provide, to not allow this kind of sucks. I love that my Shepard takes sh!t from no one, when I took down the gangs for Helena Blake I gave her, her orders; pack your sh!t and gtfo. Failing to do this she got introduced to the business end of my rifle. Lord Darius wen't down like a b!tch upon asking my Shep to refer to him as 'your lordship' that's the kind of Shep I play as.
Between Aria's smugness, arrogance, her cute little 'don't **** with Aria' speech. I was dying for the opportunity to get to use one of Shepards 'I've killed worse than you on my way to real problems' type responses but alas it was more or less 'yes, ma'am no, ma'am' all the while she gets to impose her will on you. For this I find any interaction I have with her breaks the immersion. Which is frankly, a little disapointing.
All that being said however I like having Aria in the games & I thought Carrie-Ann Moss did an awesome job as the VA, like septimus mentioned i don't wan't to kill Aria for being Aria (though the option would be nice.) i only wish you could at the very least have the option to put her in her place once or twice, make it known you're not screwing around, if that's the kind of Shepard you're playing as.

She's a gangster warlord of a failed state, where people get killed pointlessly, and nothing is a "crime" (extortion, murder, torture, etc...) so long as it doesn't cross her. What's to like?
Indeed and yet we can't kill her.

This. I don't have especially strong feelings about her but what is there is a mild dislike for this very reason. I also found it too hard to believe in her ultimate-badass hype. I mean she's just sitting there on the couch in a crowded public place - it would be so easy for any mook to shoot her in the head! The Mad Hanar wrote...
She's smug and Shepard let's her indulge in her smugness. If I had an option to tell her off, I'd like her a bit more. It seems to me that he gives her too much undue respect.
The thing that really put me off though was my first ME3 playthrough - I was doing her "gang recruitment" missions with my paragon Shepard and he auto-dialogue-threatened some merc boss with the awful "don't **** with Aria" line!
That bugged me so much that I don't even meet her in ME3 now (which feels like a satisfing slap in her "oh I'm so important" face)...

I actually had to look over my shoulder a lot when I was playing ME2 because I was that embarrassed. I was actually guilty of shouting "STOP PERVING!" at the camera at one point, because it was driving me crazy. If there's one thing I wish they'd remove from ME2, it's the pervcam.
But yeah. The asari aren't very interesting, they're generally the 'hot women' race, and hey, they can be diplomats because they're hot! Sigh. I like the aesthetics of their homeworld, though. That I loved. That was fantastic. But the asari themselves? I'm almost hoping that BioWare will conveniently forget they exist for ME4, but I doubt it.
I'll likely end up having to look over my shoulder again, feeling far, far too embarrassed by what's going on every time I meet an asari or Miranda.

I think it's a matter of how most people don't like asari, or Miranda for that matter, and much for the same reason. They were clearly thrown in as sex appeal and have very little physical differentiation. You'll never see an overweight asari.
You'll never see an overweight human, either. Games limit body shapes and clothing variations to save resources.
I agree on your points, other than that, by the way. It's the sad reality today that stuff like that sells. The asari have a lot to them that's not about sexuality also.

Neverwinter Nights had large (or overweight if you prefer) and medium body types. BioWare did 'cheat' though because they simply stretched the 'skins' to fit the larger polygons.Gisle-Aune wrote...

Triple-A games have become more expensive to make since then. And as the graphics become more delicate and detailed, that method's results would look very out of place.

It's insulting to think that we'd actually buy a game based on the presence of something like the asari, but there you go. And then there's Miranda, whose butt and breast lines the camera loved perving over.

You make excellent points, the Asari and Miranda are in there ultimately for sex appeal, beyond that there is not much to them. If Miranda was a fatty or a Vorcha she would be an awful character in many eyes and probably have no fan base at all. An elcor has more emotion/personality than her.
As for the Asari, once you're done spanking the monkey there is really nothing they have that makes them endearing besides Thessia. I like the idea of a pure biotic race but that's about it. I always found it stupid that the Asari are heralded as the most intelligent, most wise species in the galaxy, the first to be space faring (in the current cycle) and live for thousands of years, yet the majority of the ones you encounter throughout the series act like teenage/young adult humans; petty, b!tchy, angsty, materialistic, egotistical etc. You think they'd be beyond that by now?
