Honestly, I do not know where on earth to begin with this game. I've only just started it and the modern day crap is already pissing me off so much I had to stop the game. I will list the things that make me want to pull my hair out (and things that don't):

And as a p.s. yes, I didn't have enough cash to buy this when it came out.

BAD THINGS:

  • The white "cubist" sci-fi highlights to show something/someone important and transitionals are so intrusive and immersion-breaking I want to scream.
  • The whole sci fi modern thingo. Desmond is a complete turkey and his gal pal gives me no reason to like her.
  • Parkour can at time be incredibly frustrating and messy. Especially if you are running away from enemies it is so hard to freerun without flinging yourself off the wall/ledge for no reason to your demise.
  • Fighting is pretty sloppy.
  • The part when Ezio puts on the really amazingly awesome assassin gear had no build up or climax or anything.
  • The quests so far have been really long winding. It really takes way too long to go to one drop point on the other end of the map and then run all the way back.
  • No horses?! (let me know if I am wrong. I've done no research.)
  • Ezio isn't as badazz as promised in promo images!
  • The buildings/areas are quite boring looking.
GOOD THINGS:
[*]Ezio's outfit. It is so amazingly badass and decadent yet somewhat practical... weird.[*]The setting. I love good ol' Italy when it's not being invaded by flashy white lines.[*] The addition of historical characters. I squee'd when I heard Lorenzo di Medici's name. Da Vinci? Eh. It's been done.[*]The VA so far is pretty decent. I hear quite a few very, very legit Italian accents.[*]Ezio's outfit.
[/list]Anyone else find themselves feeling incredibly disappointed? What's worse is the fact I have a strange sense of Deja Vu with it. I can see it being so much better but there is nothing I can do about it. Juuuust like Kotor2.

When AC2 was being hyped was the first time I'd run across the French term for the Free Run phenomenon, but it didn't make me any more likely to be a fan of the game, and what you've written makes that an even more distant possibility.

Mirror's Edge does parkour well. So far AC2 makes it look good but it is very hard to handle.

I'm waiting for the PC version of the game. I'm hoping it ships with additional content since it's coming out in march.

I like the game a lot.

Its a console action game, so i wouldnt be too concerned about any kind of immersion. It is just a fun game. It takes a bit to really get used to the controls.

I do not like the parts of the game you have to run around top of the buildings chasing down theives or doing race quests. They are frustrating

There are horses you can ride around on, but there are not many. The upgrades are great, and the fact there is an economy in the game really adds something. Have you gotten to the villa yet? If not, its kind of a home base, you can renovate the little town around it and earn money through the shops and.

Stick with it.. it is 100 times better than the first AC.

The immersion was one of the key parts for me in 1.

I will try to stick with it... it's proving incredibly difficult.

Would you reccomend Assassin's Creed 1? I'm thinking about trying it but I've heard a lot of negative things about it.

It is a great game. The feeling of climbing up the highest point in the game is simply awesome... if you suffer from acrophobia... you'll be really scared! And it is a hell of a fun to run over rooftops escaping a tough chase. The visuals are awesome. If you can find AC1 cheap, definitely try it out!

It still has all the modern day intrusive stuff but it worked more in the game... so far, at least. The protagonist is still is major turkey. Lots of places to climb and the setting is really interesting.

I meant more in character.

Assassin's Creed I is overall a pretty good game. I didn't regret purchasing it even though I thought it was a bit dissapointing.

I've heard the sequel is significantly better and that is good enough for me to warrant a purchase. I'm not extremely hyped up about it though as there are plenty of great games to hold me over until march.

It's a pretty great game, but it suffers from some frustrating issues such as the fact that Altair, the Assassin that you play as has this moronic Northern American accent. You don't know why it's there, but it's there. It's kind of emotionless which only makes sense if you know the character's background. I had no problem ignoring the fact that his accent was more or less American but it really annoyed me that they give the character that voice. The sound effects are pretty boring too. The music is good at times and some are just completely forgettable.

The conversations that you have the your assassination target after you got him is always interesting and then eventually leads to even more interesting conversation with Al Mualim(Altair's master). Desmond, the guy who is using the Animus(you'll learn about that at the start of the game) isn't interesting at first but sometimes what him and the professor talk about are interesting. When he talks with the assistant, it's interesting. Bottom-line, the game makes great use of dialogue.

That AI on the other hand was stupid. You'll know what I mean when you(or if) you play the game. It's the story that kind of keeps you going. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game. But there are flaws that just turn you off sometimes. I mainly just played the game for the story. The climbing was good, but the story gets really interesting as you start to catch on to it. Assassin's Creed 2 really improves on the story especially and even improves on it's strong points and gets rid of the problems of the first game. Even if you don't really like the first game that much, at least play it to get to the second game(seriously, if you play the second one without play the first, you won't know what's going on at all).

They were using battons because they can't afford to hurt Subject 17. And if you played the first game, you'll hear when gunfire during one of the breaks from the Animus through comlinks or however you call it.

I like you Lucy have just started playing it. I like everything but sometimes the climbing on walls gets funky and you hop when you wanna run or jump backwards off the wall you want to go up...all that gets frustrating at times but thats really all I picked out so far that bugs me. oh yeah, some of the glyphs are proving very challenging for my to find.

But im sticking to it....you should too ;)

You sure they were trying to retrieve him? thats not how i interpreted the situation, also what about your little friends? they werent needed alive.

Also, are we supposed to believe that a corporation that has the freaking animus doesnt have Tasers? Or a tranquilizer gun? They rely on the most primitive method of incapacitating someone (wack in head). This seems extra special stupid since they know you just buggered off to get ninja training.

If you thought whats happened so far was bad, the ending of the game will destroy any immersion you may have had in the game, and leave a very bitter, unpleasant taste in your mouth.
