After defeating the collectors at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, the crew of the crippled Normandy prepares to for the voyage home. However, hopes for some well-deserved rest and relaxation are quickly dashed. Cerberus has been exposed, humanity has lost its seat on the Citadel Council, and the reappearance of the geth spark a panic through civilized space. The sentient machines seek a truce with their creators and former masters, but it's a peace no one else seems to desire. The Normandy becomes embroiled in a life-or-death struggle to keep the galaxy from tearing itself apart at a time when unity is needed most, because the reapers are coming...

This was a fanfic that I shut down shortly before the release of Mass Effect 3 but have decided to restart. It is the sequel to "Tomorrow's Dawn," which details the first steps towards peace made by Legion and Tali. It takes place immediately after the events of Mass Effect 2 and precludes the events of ME3 entirely. (Sorry Vega, Traynor and Cortez.)

Just gonna stop by here to say that this is one of the best fanfics I have come across, and its prequel, Tomorrow's Dawn, was a large part of what inspired me to start writing ME fanfic myself.

If you're reading this thread and haven't read this fic yet, do yourself a huge favour and read it right now. This stuff is better than a lot of the books you'll find coming from actual publishers.

The quarian/geth conflict was always a favorite arc of mine in Mass Effect 2, and while it had an excellent series of mission is ME3 there was one question that never got answered. Why did the Citadel Council not intervene in the geth uprising? The quarians committed the cardinal sin of creating artificial intelligence (or life, even), sure. They tried to eradicate their creation, which was also a big no-no... But the quarians paid in blood. Their entire culture wiped out and they were exiled from its home homeworld. Surely that would have balanced the books. Yet the survivors are paying for the crimes committed generations before they were even born. There has to be a reason why...

Peace negotiations between the geth and quarians have collapsed, and one the two separate factions vying to control the geth demonstrates how far they're willing to go to achieve that goal.

Fantastic job.  Would love to see this as a texture for Legion in ME3. 

The fanfic sounds really interesting - I'll have to give it a read when I find the time.  :happy:
