Still, it doesn't change the fact that people pretty much just end up ruining it one way or the other for me. In game, and in forums.
Heck, I don't even have CoD, and some absolute stranger sent a message to me just to tell me, unapologetically, that I sucked at CoD. lol
You need to rethink this. Coop and PvP are really not that different. Some people hate PvP in the same way that some lower skilled people complain about the Collectors being too hard in ME3 MP. It's no different from a silver player getting destroyed in his first platinum match. PvP is like Coop where the enemies are Black Diamond level to the nth degree. No AI will ever match a human player. If BW came out with a new level that is 5x as hard as platinum, you might hate it too.
People ruining the game? That happens in ALL multiplayer game (e.g. rocket glitch, map glitch, firing rate hacks). It's all the same thing, viewed from a different angle.
For many long time ME3 MP players, the game is no longer challenging. When I come into a game, I know if I keep shooting, moving, throwing powers, the enemies will eventually die and the game will be won. It's not the same way with PvP. I find PvP games tend to hold onto players a lot longer than coop games. Look at Battlefield or Counterstrike vs L4D. Once coop games are mastered, there are no more challenges. Games are about adrenaline rush, and you need a challenge for that.
Rethink what? o.O
It's not the difficulty that turns me off from PvP. It's the -people- themselves. The communities tend to be the factor that turns me off of PvP. Broken, or near broken builds become alarmingly common, variety gets crushed, fun gets crushed, forums see a bit too many "NERF (insert something they have problems dealing with but don't look at the big picture)" and are generally more hostile/negative. My problems with PvP is rooted squarely with the people themselves, not the difficulties, or challenges of the game.
Yes, nerf cries happen here, but it's far less often.
At least the people ruining the game for MEMP with missile glitches, landscape glitches, and stuff are working -with- me, and not trying to get their rocks off at my, or anyone else's expense with them. I don't condone abuse, cheats, and exploits in multiplayer, but it's better used against the AI than another person being on the receiving end of it.
Further, I know the AI cheats to try and keep up with people, and I'm more okay with that than other humans cheating. I know they won't be the challenge on par with another person, but I'm fine with that.
I like co-op more than PvP. I'm a team player at heart. I like having people's backs, and them having mine, even if it's not directly so. Like I said, I know the AI cheats. The AI has always cheated. It's diffirent though.
I've giggled gleefully as I managed kill streaks in PvP via cunning, and stuff. I'm no stranger to the adrenaline rushes of PvP. Thing is, it's not worth putting up with other people for me.
I can get challenged outside of PvP. I can get some rushes out of PvP. Aside from dealing with intelligent enemies I don't see a reason to go to PvP in the face of dealing with the stuff people do.
