Okay, so I chose Anora to be queen and me be her king. So far so good.
Until I saw Alistair give a speech to the soldiers, and then I saw a
dialouge option with Alistair mentioning him as king, and finally I
check the codex and it says I chose Alistair as king! Should I
load back to an eairlier save and try again?

No, this is a known thing. It's not a bug per se, but just some shortcuts in the development, I think. It's one of the reasons I always make Alistair king, because otherwise it throws me out of the game too much.
