EDIT: Okay, in case anyone didn't notice, the "outrage" thing was a quote from Udina. I'm not quite THAT butthurt.

Okay, really, Bioware? This is the fourth time in a row you've been late.

It's really not that hard to change some variables in a script. There is absolutely no reason for you to EVER be late with the balance changes.

Keep in mind last week we had N7 day stuff and the week before we had Halloween. Then Nov 11th came by lest we forget. Just sayin.

So you think spending time to create special events and  Rememberance Day is a bad excuse for releasing balance changes 1 day late?

 We did not sign a contract that says "we will do balance changes every week". We try to be consistant because of consistancy, which has led out fans to be conditioned. This is both "powerful" and a curse, it requires less in the way of communication but is very difficult to break away from and can lead to anger and misunderstanding.

3 weeks ago more testing was required, it happens when a balance change is over 50 changes

2 weeks ago we had a halloween challenge which fell on halloween we also did 2 things we hadn't done before. A new banner and replacing objectives. Then after that we also had to remove the halloween changes on the monday, that verification didnt come without a cost either.

1 week ago we had N7 challenge, which we wanted to land on N7 day. Furthermore if we did do 2 server pushes (one tuesday, one on wednesday) it makes it very hard to test ie we would have less than a day to test our push on wednesday.

This week we had rememberance day on sunday, which (because it is a stat/public holiday) we were given monday off as a day in lieu. I am not sure about you all but I certainly enjoy my days, and appreciate it when I get it for a holiday that means something to me. So really Wednesday is the 2nd day of the work week which you could argue is when we release balance changes, because we have generally released on a wednesday if monday is a holiday.

I do not believe any aspect of having a day delay because of a holiday instead of having us work late is an outrage.

Lame excuse? Fairly...

Lets take a new kit
 - Is it unlockable in store
 - Do the strings show up? Do they show up for all languages?
 - Do you get the correct number of unlocks for them?
 - Does their drop rate seem correct?
 - Is there a challenge for it?
 - Does the challenge have all the strings? Are they all translated?
 - Does it show up in the GUI?
 - Does it track progress correctly?
 - Does the challenge completing actually add to the gold level challenge?
 - Does it reset when the gold level is complete?
 - Do the people maintaining the n7hq know about the new kit?
 - Does the correct number of unlocks show up underneath?
 - Does the kit level corespond to the correct level on the website?
 - Does the power icons etc show up correctly?
 - Does the leveling of powers show up correctly?
 - Does the challenge show up properly?
 - Does the challenge track properly?

Still more but there is a good amount of things that can (and do) go wrong. Also add in the fact there are 3 platforms.

Many of the other listed things are fairly much a reiteration of themselves, and seems to be a little misleading considering that this IS simple substitution in most cases. I know that every tinkering can open a new can of worms, but with careful, considerate, professional people working on it, it really is not as complicated as you are making it out to be, IMO,

I supported Bioware in being late the last two times (very reasonable, actually good and sensible, reasons), but I worked on the holiday, so.... I guess I am less than sympathetic, although I am always one to enjoy a day off. To that end, I hope you enjoyed it!

Perhaps going forward, consider nipping things like this in the bud by just making an announcement as early as possible? On close of business Friday, looking at a holiday weekend, it was probably clear to the crew then that balance changes would not be on-time for Tuesday's release.

Well I can agree that there is substitution to it, a lot of the lines that I listed each have a specific line in a config file. Something like can a challenge gain progress, and can it be completed are potentially 2 different things (look at what happened at launch with the Havoc/Ghost) now we have an explicit check for it. 

Having a post friday we cant say for certain since up until we push our weekend event our test server is being used by that push so the weekend events also make our time test etc less. Before with weekend operations they were driven by online feedback in game, but now we have to put them on the server on friday.

IE before it was 1 server push a week, now it is 2.
