ME has reached the point it is considered a "AAA Franchise", and AAA Franchises will continue to sell regardless of perception.

ME3 will not destroy franchise, they just change direction a little and ME universe will go on.

There are plenty of short busers who cared nothing for the story who played 2 and 3.
Plus, not all of us hate the entire franchise just because they screwed up the finale.

I feel if ME3 and DA3 are going to sell well, they'll have to do it on their own merit and not Bioware's reputation.

I found the Prequel trilogy more exciting/breathtaking to watch than the goofy antics of Han + friends to be honest. Episode II was exceedingly romance heavy but was kind of a requirement, so I agree that one was mostly a letdown (but Jango!).
Despite the prequels being considered "bad", I don't believe they ruined the later episodes at all, they just expand what happened beforehand.
ME3 however had the responsibility of 2 games of buildup and lots of promisies, and not delivering. It was like watching Episode I - V in order, being super pumped for Return of the Jedi, then it being completely different to expected (and being even worse than current Ewoks).
ME3 f**ked up and dropped the ball in the most important part of the game. ME4 sure won't be selling because ME3 was such a "hit"...

I hear about this "bad rep" that ME3 has, on this forum no doubt, perhaps others as well, but really, everything I hear about the game outside of this place is generally positive, aside from the endings, and even then it doesn't seem like something that is going to turn people away from ME4. I'm excited and hope its great. I'm pretty new to the series, I didn't buy any of the games till ME3 was announced, and while I'm not 100% sure, I'm hard pressed to think of a better trilogy in gaming.
This will fall on deaf ears around these parts.
On a different note, you're kidding yourself OP. ME4 is a day 1 buy for me.

Halo is no longer a trilogy, it has hit quadrilogy status.Andy the Black wrote...

I guess you might not be as "emotionally invested" as some of us have been then. I started with ME2 after hearing lots of good things, then went and got ME1: loved it all, got so invested you would not believe. Psyched for ME3, so happy.
ME3 rolls around:
- Legion, my favourite ME2 character dies no matter what action I take
- Tali, my Love Interest, has no "love scene" while Ash/Liara have ****ty ones (still no CGI Tali face revealed)
- Rachni have to be saved twice, Rachni mission appears to everyone who hasn't played ME1 with an indentical looking (yet fake!) Queen. Reduced to War Assets with no actual gameplay/CGI battle.
- Heaps of stuff that should have carried over from ME1-ME2 is barely mentioned/becomes a worthless war asset, there isn't a huge difference between a New ME3 and ME1-ME3 game
- Saving/destroying the Collector Base has nil impact when it should've had a massive one
- James Vega the newbie tour guide character
- The end result of 3 games was so bad they had to make an Extended Cut version since no-one understood it
Basically I was really damn excited for ME3, but by the time I was done it was just... an utter failure of my expectations. The fact Bioware themselves said "it's a great place to start in the triology!" means it's geared towards newbies, which utterly should NOT be the case when it was meant to be about carrying over 2 previous games choices and content into wildly different directions.

Funny you should mention that - the ending to RotJ might've been as bleak as original edit ME3.Transairion wrote...

But then Lucas went with the happy reunion ending and just sold Lucasfilm for $4billion so what does he know?
