I'm sorry but is BioWare serious?

Maybe as a result of the vocal elite players on this forum or maybe genuinelly because of their own ideas of what the game should be, BioWare have indeed been slowly making this game harder. I thought the introduction of Platinum would be an end to it but no; the other difficulties were still made slowly harder, kits got nerfed, more powerful enemies got introduced, and more and more players on the game itself complained over mic that the game was getting harder. But still BSN refused to listen and still BioWare kept up the difficulty increases.
And then, today, in the preview of tomorrow's Balance Changes, we get told:
"[w]e are seeing a tendency for players to play at lower difficulties in order to complete challenges"
And you know what Bioware and you vocal elite players? There's a bloody good reason for that ...

Edit: However, it is nice that they are increasing the rewards for the higher difficulties. Maybe it'll make me want to play Gold more.

And its not because the game is too difficult.

For example, Wave 3 Silver Reapers is arguably the best wave for getting the Husk challenge done.
By manipulating the spawns in Wave 10 Silver Cerberus, you can have endless Guardians spawn.
That's why people play lower difficulties for challenges. There are few exploits like that on the harder difficulties.
Not to mention if you want to get Waves Completed out of the way just do solo Bronze Glacier or Bronze PUGs. 12 minutes max.

I don't see what the problem is with players completing challenges on lower difficulties. It's their choice to do so. There's no need to penalize them for it by upping the difficulty quite honestly.

XP doesn't motivate me much so don't care...but they have plenty of challenges that are based on what level you play at (maps, solo) so there are challenges to be had.
The problem is that some weapons suck so hard no one will/can use them at G/P levels. Anyone want to try the Predator challenge on Gold - and yes I'm sure someone has but I'm referring here to people who have a life.

Moving on to those of you who are more willing to talk ... :-)
I didn't say the game was impossibly hard, I said most players are finding it increasingly too hard.
Personally, I like playing Gold. The only reason I've been playing mostly Silver recently is because that's what my Friends play. Because for most of them, Gold is too hard. And they're not the only ones. Loads of people on mic in public games say there's no point playing Gold now as it's too hard. Yes, Gold is beatable but that's not the same thing at all. Not everyone wants a massive challenge for every game - in fact, most people don't want a massive challenge at all. But that's what the game is turning into for most players. The elite players will scoff and poor scorn on that statement but it's true.
I'd be very interested to see just how many people have completed Solo Mastery because while I have no doubt that most of the vocal BSNers have it, most of the wider player base won't.
If BioWare want to keep making the game harder then OK, it's up to them. But to then turn round and say that they want to do something about the reduced numbers playing the higher difficulties is utterly preposterous.

Yes Platinum and Gold are not easy difficulties for some players, but there are those of us that enjoy the more challenging mode and those of us that enjoy overcoming something that we cannot currently complete.
What I don't get is why you seemingly want to deny us this. I get that not everybody wants challenging gameplay, but there are still 2 difficulties for that. Silver got pretty tough for some players lately, but Bioware looked into that and even made changes to tone it down a bit.

For months some people have been saying on this board that multiplayer is too hard. Whenever they try, though, they get drowned out by people accusing them of whining or of people flat out telling them to shut up or of people telling them that actually the game isn't hard enough because the person responding is SuperGamer and wants it to be a challenge akin to ice skating uphill.

Actually it is too hard, but not for me. You see, this is a team game, that means I can't solo the waves even if I'm skilled(which I am). What this means is that it truly doesn't matter how good I get, unless I'm playing a truly op class or gimp myself on oh say, silver, said game usually doesn't make it(Using the Ghost drains the fun out of it and I care less about the Ultra Rare weapons). To drive this home, I just played a game with a terrible PUG team(I don't have many friends and they're probably playing the newer games, I honestly don't blame them really) who refused to gel and nearly wiped on 3 and almost failed on 6 because of greed.
Alas, this is BSN the home of complete idiots and Xbox kiddies(along with lots of dumb PC players), nothing good ever gets done via this forum.
But to be truly honest, the difference in points between difficulties is practically minimal, and such is why people go to Bronze for their challenges, because it's easier and more efficent. And BSN is fools for thinking that Bioware's next move will really make that much of a difference in this.

I don't want to deny you anything of the sort.
What I am saying is that if BioWare are going to keep making the game more difficult, they've got to expect fewer people will play the harder difficulty settings. For them to now be wanting to do something about that after they've spent months pushing the less elite gamers away from those setting is preposterous.

...for most players playing gold, you mean? You've got nothing to object to, then - the devs have stated that gold is meant to be really hard, even for veteran players. So if it is, then mission accomplished.
Given that there are two easier difficulties, and you're not (usually) forced by the game itself to play above your level of skill, this seems like a stealth complaint about not getting enough credits/XP/epeen for playing silver and bronze. Not meant to be an insult; correct me if I'm wrong? I can't really parse what point you're trying to make, otherwise.

Are you that dense that it didn't clue you in that the reason people went into silver/bronze farming for challenges was because of the difficulty in getting points from gold/platinum-rare enemies such as troopers and husks? It has nothing to do with it being undauntingly difficult.
Are you so dense that you have to question the intelligence of anyone whose opinion isn't precisely the same as yours?
