I'm hoping to play a sort of neutral rogue who has a traditional Andrastian upbringing. Despite that, he ends up being a thief, or an assassin, or something like that. Hopefully, he would have a background where he's never met a mage.

So he'd be biased against mages because he was always told how dangerous they were, and has no personal experience to the contrary. But as a rogue, he'd be biased against authority figures like the templars and -ironically- the chantry.

The two would cancel each other out, and going into DA:3, he would have no definitive stance on a mage vs templar/chantry conflict. Any decisions he makes would be based primarily on his/my experience with the story and characters in DA:3.

As far as personality goes, I'm thinking this character would've had a strong focus on honing his instincts and street smarts. He might be sarcastic or funny to a point, but he's not going to be dashing, witty, and care-free like my Hawke was. My DA:3 character would be more analytical, perceptive, and moody, I think.

I will:
- be a duelwield rogue
- save every mage possible.
- be kind and merciful (even to templars).
- redecorate my castle over and over.
- support freedom.
- kiss Flemmeths feet the moment I see her!

Probably someone fairly nice and heroic.

I don't find it useful to go in more detail than that before starting the game. I need to see the backgrounds and the opening stages of the game to see what sort of characters are properly supported by the game.

The same way I always play my first playthrough:
- roll a female mage
- always choose the most sarcastic/amusing dialogue option possible at any given time...
- unless there is also a flirt option. Always pick the flirt option...
- unless there is also a persuade/intimidate option. ALWAYS pick the persuade/intimidate option.
- Otherwise, attempt to earn as much money as possible
- try to make as many things explode as possible, preferably while walking calmly away from them
- otherwise be chaotic good, working to help those who are oppressed and in need. But the sarcasm/flirting/money/explosions comes first.

Fish knows what's up!  Except I tend to be a little more evil depending on the situation.  Sometimes it's good to be bad.

First character?

A female mage who doesn't let the bias of others affect her judgement, she'll side with the Chantry in one situation if the mages are a-holes, and vice versa. She won't draw lines such as mage = innocent, templar = bad, elf = lithe, pointy eared people who excel at poverty. Everything will come down to how the individual acts towards her. Also, very sarcastic and doesn't really like taking things seriously because (insert generic traumatized background here).

Second one? An over-protective female rogue whose hostile to anyone but her closest companions. Devout Andrastian, hopefully some point she'll be forced to choose between her beliefs and a friend.

that depends on how i feel when i get the game... my first charcters never make it to the end. cause i have a nasty habbit of restarting if i don't like something.....
but...

I think i'll start as a Female Rouge archer. then go form there... most likey be Sycastic if it's an Opption.

Will the makeup be for camoflage, or more for making yourself pretty in order to improve your persuasion skills?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

But seriously, it really depends on the premise of the game, at least more detailed than we have now.

I usually tend towards being the good guy, but the sarcasm option was fun, and I'd likely go fo that in conversations where available.

A mage that's an anti-hero. Everything outside that is subject to change as i actually know stuff about the story and how it will be approached

Mage. Blood mage if possible. I will help those in need, stop those who would harm others, keep faith with my allies, and negotiate with my enemies in good conscience.

A male mage, who is more interested in helping himself rather than others, and more or less forced to be the inquisitor. He's going to hate the opressive chantry and templars. He doesn't like being nice, cuz nobody has been nice to him. He's going to be a smart ass, with a sharp tongue. Over time, he will learn to be more social and friendly-to a point.

I generally play my first two playthroughs of an RPG the exact same way:

Playthrough #1: choose every "nice" option (Paragon)
Playthrough #2: choose every "evil" option (Renegade)

I like seeing the full range of options as it allows me to meta my choices from there. Also, I tend to do the polar opposite of the class options (mage/warrior - soldier/adept).

Personally, I have found I almost have to play my first character as a "good" person. Which means mostly trying to make friends, make decisions that at least appear to be the "right thing to do", etc.

I have tried playing the self-serving, devious character types first, but it never works out. I usually end up feeling "guilty" and can't continue. I save those characters for followup playthroughs, to which are sort of like an alternate universe scenario for me.

Hopefully I will be playing as a new class, failing that I will be a mage intent on burning the chantry (and any history of it), out of existence. .

1st, as anti-chantry as you can manage, 2nd, flat out kill it with all the fire inquisitor. Then if I get that far, go for a balanced character trying to bring peace (rather than have one faction or other win)

Since we're gonna human regardless. I'm gonna play as a Rogue. Not sure on which gender yet, probably male. I'm also gonna be a good person, just like my Warden, and my Hawke...and my Shepard.

I typically always do my first run as a good and diplomatic character but if the dialogue wheel is back and the purple options still exist, I might have to change that. See, for me there is something great about how partially bonkers purple Hawke is, and if I can carry that same charm to DA3, I'll be pleased.

As far as class and stance on the war, always dual wielding female rogue. I go into it thinking I'll be pro-mage as I was in DA2 but we'll see how time has changed the battlefield and where my sympathies lie.
