He's a mage. He has a dry wit, but he makes jokes solely for his own benefit. He does not care whether others enjoy or even recognise his humour, as they are irrelevant. He is indifferent to the welfare of others. He likes to gather as much information as possible before making decisions. He reacts very badly to being lied to, but has no difficulty lying to others. He completes quests because he wants to, not because others want him to. He's generally stoic, but has a flair for the dramatic. He enjoys performing for a crowd, but will do so only when it suits him.

IMHO, an intensely lawful evil character (for example, your average 40k inquisitor) is more fun.
