Dragon Age 2 should have a romance option...with a younger woman.

Don't get me wrong, both Lelianna, and Morrigan had their appeal but I thought they were too old for my liking.

I'm hoping that in the sequel there is at least one female character between the ages of 16-18 that can be romancable.  If this is a fantasy game, why not feature female characters in the prime of their life?

Morrigan and Lelianna looked like they were 24-28 and that is too old.

haha you sound just like my real life friend who is also a hardcore Bioware fan since the BG series/Icewind Dale days.

But both he and I are just thankful that Morrigan and Leliana are both very interesting characters who are not:

-bald (see chick from Mask of the Betrayer)
-creepy stalker(see chick from NWN 2)
-elves(well, almost all of them)

However, to me, a woman in her mid twenties is akin to a flower in full bloom. So I am perfectly happy with the age of the DA female romances, and I sincerely hope that they do not change a winning recipe.

Maybe their research had led them to believe that human females with hair would be the most appealing to their target demographics?

Or at least they should keep one human non-bald woman in her twenties at all times and add one younger and/or non-human character.

The elves from DA are a lot cuter than the elves from DnD, so I don't mind if they add an elf romance later on. Heck, even the DA dwarves are cuties.

Methinks the original poster is either young himself (which is entirely excusable, I suppose) or he's been playing JRPGs his whole life and he believes that everything worth doing, especially when it comes to epic adventures, happens between the ages of 14 and 18. Needless to say, the latter explanation is entirely INexcusable.

Well, I'm 26 but I just happen to prefer teens over women in their 20's. Not to say women in their 20's are bad, it's just that teens are usually better.
Just compare Britney Spears 17 year old schoolgirl look from 1998 to her old, ugly, white trash appearance today.

I think most people deep down agree with this but they just don't want to admit it because it's taboo, despite adult/teenage romances having been prevalent throughout thousands of years of human history.
I doubt the world of Ferelden would be so stuffy about teens. Teens are young adults afterall.

Thats very doubtful to happen. While its a fantasy game. Bioware could get some serious heat over the 16-18 year old romance optioned characters. Early to mid 20's (true age beng comparable to that grouping incase of elves and demi/meta humans) is about the safest age group for young characters. Anything younger than that could cause media fire that is way worse than what Bioware got from Mass Effect and Rockstar from the hot coffee scenario. Mainly because then it deals with minors.

The characters in Dragon Age are not real people though, I don't see why anybody should care.

16 is the age of consent where I live. It's not like the USA's moralistic garbage has to be forced on the rest of the world. If we make 18 the age of consent in Dragon Age, next thing we know we're going to find out that the people of Ferelden have abandoned the maker to learn about the teachings of Jesus.

I disagree with your taste but I can understand it. My friend is like that after all. In any case, you certainly presented your case well.

It is possible that an 18 year old fresh from the farm green recruit might be romanceable some day, but I doubt Bioware would go below that. Aerie from BG2 is at least decades old but she still exhibited a youthful naivete and childishness.

It doesn't matter why anyone should care, the point is that people WOULD care.  People will complain about anything they can, they would make a big deal about it just because they have nothing better to do.  They'll say "Oh, I don't like this game, I think it should be banned because you can have a romance with a 17 year old girl!"

I don't think moralistic bible thumping crusaders care about gaming anyways. The only games they play are Noah's bible adventures, and The Left Behind games.

Bioware can go ahead and ****** them off as they please without worrying about harming their regular fan base.

I say bring on the teenage girls!

No offense, but I kind of find it hilarious how someone would wish a pixelated woman to be younger.

I don't think this is an actual issue. Besides, OPlatypusPrime has a point, someone would complain about the character being underage.

I thought exactly the opposite, I wished it had had an older romances as well, like 30-40, maybe even older (Duncan ftw!). :P (Yeah well, blame my age, I am over those teen romances I guess.)

no the general people that would complain are the mothers cause no mother wants to admit their little 16 year old angel is really a ****. or at least can be turned into one very easily. i dont think thier is anything wrong with his choice, at that age i was same way. most men would prefer to get a woman untouched, a virgin if you will and the odds of that happening in their 20s are very limited. btw 16 years old is age of consent in nearly every state also, with a few states being as low as 14. i dont know of any states higher than 16, its possible i guess but i cant recall a single state being higher.

but, it would never happen in game i dont think. reason why is they would get a lot of negative publicity from the goodie two shoes media and eventually some parent would sue bioware for their daughter turning into a **** after playing the game. personally i dont care for romance in a game either way, its not like i get any physical enjoyment out of a romance with a onscreen character, i say leave the romance out, bring on more killing and if you want a g/f that badly get off the game and go find one.

underage according to which laws though? The US laws maybe but why should the rest of the world have to put up with the USA's age of consent laws?

It's not fair, Europeans buy games too!

The minimal age will simply be 21, don't bother asking for teenagers, not even teen-lookalikes. Sex with teenage NPC's or anything even remotely resembling anything underage will get this game banned in a lot of countries.

I don't know if you ever heard about anything called "Second Life"? Some people actually created underage avatars on that for the purpose of depicting underage avatar sex. It resulted in some rather rigorous rules. Creating underage avatars is still allowed, but bringing them even in the vicinity of remotely sexual content gets you a permaban. These rules were made on purpose, because Second Life itself was risking being outlawed in a lot of countries because of users doing this.

Britney Spears is only a valid representation of the dangers of mixing youth, drugs, and celebrity. She definitely doesn't qualify as a valid representation of most 20-something women, and if you honestly believe she does then I have to wonder what kind of women you know that you think a woman in her mid-20's is past the prime of her life.

Many many games have gotten away with depicting teenage girls sexually. Think of the Dead or Alive games, or how about most JRPG's?

If they can get away with it, so can Dragon Age.

Second Life isn't a game anyways, it's just some glorified 3d chat room, screw it.

op what is the age of consent where you come from, 8 or something. you said in one post it was 16, in usa it is 16, so in this case the laws are the same. but to answer your question, bioware has to follow usa laws because last i checked, bioware was in the usa and if they dont follow the law then we have things called police that put them in jail. i know those euro countries are confused about things like that, just put down the legal hash pipe, wait a few days for your head to clear and im sure it will come back.

The only exceptions I can think of is if a girl is really fat and smelly in her teens and then changes her lifestyle, loses weight and looks good when she is in her 20's.
That aside, I don't think any women in their 20's look as good as they did when they were in their teens.  Many of the girls I remember from my high school days who live in my neighborhood don't look nearly as hot as they did back then.

If you're looking for an example, just compare Lindsay Lohan from Mean Girls to how she looks today.

I thought the age of consent was 18 in the USA.  Bioware is a Canadian company.

Well, that answers my question I suppose. You really should get out more. Losing weight and taking a shower isn't the only way a woman could possibly look better in their 20's than they did in their teens. There are plenty of women around the world who were pretty as teens, are still pretty in their 20's, and will continue to be so for decades.

Lindsay Lohan falls into the same category as Brittney Spears. Women who got too famous too early, let it go to their head, think they're above everyone and everything including the law, and let a life of excess get the better of them. Now I'm wondering why you keep pointing to women who went the drugs/alcohol route and ruined themselves as examples.
