I just finished DA2 and really liked the cameos from DA:O characters, although I would have loved to see a proper quest with Alistair.

I don't people's beef with that game, apart from the over use of assets.

Is it likely the champion will return in the game? I didn't feel her story was completed fully but I'm not sure how facial data would import?

Leliana at the end of the game was amazing, she's up to something!

What do you think?

A lot of them could make a come back...

About the warden and hawke , I want to hear about them and have hints about what happened to them.But I don't want to see them.Well , I could deal with seeing a silhouette far away.
But "Hello , I'm the warden".
I can hear myself thinking "Hell , no! I AM the warden!"

People coming back :
Cassandra :it's pretty obvious.
Leliana : Orlais , maybe we will meet the divine , i expect to see her.
Cullen : it's not obvious , but it feels like it.
Sten : possible cameo , if we deal with qunari.Not sure.
Flemeth: Flemeth has to be there , because she's Flemeth.
Morrigan: depends , I'm not sure from a story point of view , we need to meet her again so soon.
But the writers might want to shed some light on her story or just get "rid" of all the OGB conspiracies and be done with it.Might play a bigger role in the whole thing .
Bodhan and Sandal ;they're like Flemeth ,they're always around somehow.
Shale : still killing birds around , after Asunder we don't really know what happen or if she still want to be a dwarf again.She migh come back in a book or comics ...
Wynne :she's dead .So obviously no.
Oghren: don't think we will see him.
Zevran: Don't think we will see him neither .

Companions from DA2 , I don't expect to meet everyone but I think we will hear about them.
Most of them disapeared with no clue what's going on.
Merrill , Fenris , Aveline if she had to leave Kirkwall...What the hell are they doing?

Alistair Varric and Isabella are on a possible adventure in the comics.
Anders , i assume he died in a lot of playthrough , if not i don't imagine a bright future for him.

I hope Merrill or Fenris will do something about the elves , i feel like elves needs a "hero".
I don't really care which one , but I would really like something like that in DA3.

I'd like to see Varric and Isabela come back. Those two just play off one another really well. Their interactions alone makes DA2 one of my favorite games.

Flemeth is a no-brainer, probably we will see Morrigan again (especially for those who are still waiting for the final outcome of the Dark Ritual).

Bodhan and Sandal probably will show up somehow, and I'm glad about it, while I'm absolutely curious about Hawke and the Warden. They are the two most important characters in the Dragon Age Universe and have helped shaping the entire Thedas in so many ways. Considering how many lives their adventures touched, their appearence is starting to become pretty sure. But how?

Also, Leliana. While Morrigan seemed a main character in the Dragon Age Universe after DA:O, Leliana's definitely becoming very interesting after her part in Dragon Age 2. Let's hope she'll make a comeback!

DA2 & the mass effect series forever ruined returning characters for me; bioware has proven quite thoroughly they can't write a character after one apearance, please don't bother anymore, just make new characters and never bring back old ones as it's always & completely unsatifsying (i'll make a rare exception for garrus & tali though but 2 out of 20+ is still a major fail)

If you didn't kill any of them in the first two games, I would expect the Warden, Anora, Loghain, Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair, Sten, Cauthrien, Hawke, Bethany, Cassandra, Zevran, Isabela, Bodahn, Sandal and Flemeth to return.

I'm not sure, I just hope it's not excessive. I want it to make some kind of sense to see returning characters instead just a brief cameo that could easily have been fufilled with a new face. I know it's neat to see beloved characters, but I would really like this game to feel fresh and epic in scale. I think a lot of previous characters have had their time/story told and if they don't really matter to the new quest, then I wouldn't mind not seeing them.

I'm hoping they'll cut down on the minor cameos and instead focus on making the people who do return actually have a point for being there.

I'm hopeful they'll understand the utter folly of bringing back prior PC as NPCs.

I thought Liara was pretty well received by fans (except some who thinks she's writer's pet).I don't mind returning characters if they're relevant to the plot instead of fan-service cameos.

If you did kill them off in the first game, they still show up in DA2. just sayin.

I thought it was already known that Hawke and the Warden were going to have a cameo in some form? Or was that just tumblr jumping into conclusions again?

Anyway, Flemeth coming back is a given. Cassandra and Leliana will most definitely also make some kind of cameo (or even be a companion in Cassandra's case?).
I would love to see Shale, Bethany/Carver, Isabela and Fenris in some form as well. Also Loghain if he survived Origins. Oh yeah, and Sten will probably also make some kind of screen visit.

Who do I want to see the most though? The ghost of the Warden's mabari. JS.
