If they suck and sound like they have no idea what they are talking about I don't let them in.
The requirement to join is playing like a top tier player, not doing a duo platinum.

So far only 1 person that requested to join wasn't good enough, that I played with anyways.

I think that's a good approach.

That's interesting.

I (and most of the PC Elite) tend to run around the map like maniacs, heading to the nearest spawn so we can blow it up. :wizard:

I know.... that's the way alot of the elite play. I don't play that way... I see no point in risking a mistake so I can be at the spawn first, unless I'm running a grenade class... then the risk is worth the reward. I'm in no hurry to make the game end as fast as possible... I'd rather dominate the enemy with tactics and not make mistakes that cost gel, or expose other team members to risk when I'm down.

It just makes more tactical sense IMO to move up to a safe position with view on a chokepoint, kill everything, then advance. The enemies are dumb... I'm going to use that against them instead of trying to brute force my way to victory.

Im the same. Im not the score type I just feel very comfortable running around but thats to be expected when soloing constantly. Even when I play with INVADERONE I try not to run off on my own but it always hapoens. Now dont get me wronge Im an excellent team player. I just mixed solo & team tactics together. Sometimes it takes a good survivalist to divert aggro away from the team & thats what I do. Soloing just helps me be a hard bait to catch lol

I agree... wanted to say that earlier but couldn't really think of how best to put it into words without sounding like an elitist DB.

I was going to post a few thoughts I have, but this pretty much sums up what I was going to say.  Just play a few games with someone and chat to them.  For example the other day I played with Sirian and Jay, obviously in game they ripped things up very impressively but between games they were really cool and I enjoyed sitting and chatting with them in a lobby. I can see why people hold them in such high regard and its not just all about the skills.

What an elitist DB you are, for suggesting that you need to be somewhat good at this game to join a group who enjoys playing U/U/G/P

I think a combination of both would be good not just full team gameplay. Players should be able to demonstrate good survivability like with duos gold & platinum. In my opinion to be TOP TIER means to
be able to perform well in any challenge :)

Believe me I can tell a lot about someone in team games, if they have solo abilities thats great.
I switch between support and DPS classes and pay attention to every little thing done in the game.

I appear to be getting serious which isn't my style at all.
I wouldn't still be playing this game if it wasn't for the fact that I've met some really awesome people that have become good friends too, the social aspect of the game is enormously important to me.  Now that I've played with you the people I play with on Xbox will ask what is was like, I'll tell them that you're cool and fun before I'd ever think about talking about how good you are at actually playing the game.  Blush away :)

This isn't a competition group, I messaged sy7ar if it was cool to branch out his group.
No one is the best at this game but their are a few who stand out when you play with them, those are the people that should be in this group.

So what is the purpose of the group? If it's not to compete, then what? Simply play together? Do special challenges? Feel some sort of validation? Or do you give each other back massages and pats on the back as one tells the other "Why yes, I'm so elite I shoot lightening bolts out of my @rse while writing strategy guides and playing with one hand......"

I don't see the fun in playing with a group that's all "better than good" I think of myself as pretty good at this game, but nowhere near the level of some of these folks....... and if I play on a team of people all around just my skill level gold seems easy. (I can't get the appeal of platinum personally)..... so a team of folks all of this skill level..... would there even be any challenge for you guys? I mean enjoy the game how you want and all.... I just don't see the appeal..... maybe grab two of you guys and a pair of raw scrubs who at least are willing to give it their all and drag them to victory. Meh... what do I know

Having finally gone through all the responses, I am with you on this. You're a mind reader. If the group's purpose has nothing to do with special, odd ball challenges or even speed runs, what's the point? It's just seems like a made-up badge used for bragging rights and circle jerking.

I've played with these guys a bit.

It's not very difficult to do well in Platinum game when you've got players like them on your flanks.

If the group's purpose has nothing to do with special, odd ball challenges or even speed runs, what's the point? It's just seems like a made-up badge used for bragging rights and circle jerking.

These guys are usually quite open to character builds/discussion and how-to-play and other game-buidling ideas. It's not about ego-stroking and elitism. They usually share on how to have more fun playing. i.e. Not nuking spawns every wave, team synergy, etc.

I would say they just want to have fun at the highest level the game has to offer.

If that's the case, then the people who will benefit most from these type of  discussions are those who have not yet reached "elite" levels. Even saying that word makes me want to roll my eyes.

I agree that non-elite (ugh, I don't like the word either) players would benefit most from those types of discussions. However, players of any skill-level can appreciate new ideas for builds/gameplay as well. Mind you, I merely said these guys are open to any type of game discussion. Anything to extend the life of the game and have more fun when you've hit the end of it.

The term "elite player" in general is laughable in a game like this one.

To be fair though, I'd probably call myself an "elite" too if I managed to be relatively successful playing on your connection. It can't be easy lagging 2 hours behind everyone else in the game.

Yes we have all heard your disdain for us console players again and again. You even posted a thread on the Arelex forums assuming the only reason we played on console was our parents didn't buy us a gaming pc, which turned out to not be true for any of us.

I know you are just playing around but it the whole console war is a little tired.

Now that's some serious dedication. Posting inflammatory troll comments about console players to get a negative response on BSN is one thing, but taking the time to go to another website with it...

Never said it was the reason you guys did. Just that it was the most common reason my friends back in high school used to give me when I would bug them about it.  Wondered if it was the same with you guys and what would happen when next gen consoles came out, that's all.
