Sue: The reason I want to play with this guys (aside the fact that I enjoy their company) is that it's nice to play a game where I don't have to pick classes that carry other players weight. I mean... 90% of Platinum matches I play, it's me and Devil protecting/kinda carrying our other friends (not talking about you). That's why Devil always plays DPS classes, because often times our other friends won't be able to kill enough. That's why I always play Vanguards, because if I don't give the enemy something to shoot at (my face), they will often times outgun my team. I'm very good at getting shot in the face...

When I play with these fellas... I can be free to REALLY do whatever the hell I want to do, and I can be comfortable knowing they got my back.

I don't need this for E-peen... my E-peen has been getting 6 hour daily massages w/ happy endings from Black Ops2 anyway. It took me a few days to return to form... but ohh boy am I back. Killing other humans makes my E-peen rage... shooting Cerberus troops does not. Hell... even Devil got BO2 and he's enjoying it, and he's one of those 'hardcore COD haters' who hated it without having a reason (like a bunch of a-holes on this board).

Anyway... I see the operation started. I'm gonna log on, if anyone wants to hit me up... I'll be there.

Edit: Sue.. you didn't offend me... at all. The only thing that offends me is that ugly Krogan with a monocle, and the cheesy sounding Crocodile Dundee accent Image IPB

Glad I didn't offend. I've played with Devil many times and I don't recall him ever using high dps classes exclusively, or you playing vanguards, but I guess we haven't played together often enough (and with this new group and BO 2, perhaps even less so)

Take this as a tease or just an honest question, but couldn't I make the argument that if one were such an elite player,  one could play any class and carry the team to victory, then into the sky,  past rainbows, and to the stars?!

Devil played almost always Infiltrators on Plat before... it has only changed in the last few weeks-month. Look at his promotions... 50ish for every class except Infiltrators, which are 110+. He said, and I quote "It's because I have to clutch waves so often." You haven't seen me playing Vanguards because... well... we haven't played but 3-4 times ever. I also want to be host when I Vanguard, and that has been problematic lately... so I'm forced to Kroguard (lame) when off host to protect the squishy team mates.

Yes.. an elite player could play any class and carry the noobs to victory... but please tell me why I would want to do that to myself, when I have the option of preventing team wipe through other tactics? As Devil said once.. "I'm not a ****ING CHARITY WORKER!" I leave the charity work to dumdum and hardcoresalmon... they seem to enjoy it.

You could, but anyone who took you seriously should be shot. (I kid)

The ability to carry a team with any class doesn't necessarily make it fun to do so. It would be challenging tedious in the same way as playing on Platinum with common weapons and no consumables. Sure, an "elite" player could go out and solo Platinum, or carry a bad team with a level 1 Volus Adept, but is he actually having fun?

At least at Team AreleX we brought everyone on board and taught them how to do what we did. Almost everyone I played with from there was fun to play with, and none of them repeatedly made references to their own superiority over other players, though many of them may have deserved to.

Forgive me, holden, but you're starting to sound elitist ;)

The question here is, what S.p.E.c.T.R.E. group is better at the game, the Xbox one of the PC one?

Would be great to see a kind of competition between them.

The PC group is just broken.

It's completely different. That would be like comparing CoD to minecraft.

Seriously, playing it on Xbox is way different than playing it on PC.

Gotta admit... whenever I see vids from the PC version in hi-def.. I get... a little jealous. Just a little...

I'll say this. I for one will not be playing with this group exclusively (I didn't play with only AreleX members when they were active). I have long time friends that I enjoy playing with and won't abandon them just to play with people I know I don't have to carry.

As for the Platinum Duo bit, honestly I think that was a bad idea and if that is the way this group is going I will be opting out of it. I don't enjoy doing solo/duo games though I know I can (considering I have had to solo 7 waves in a row when I had teammates).

Anyways, I am more than happy to play with anyone and still happy to help other players. I would hope anyone else in this group would be more than willing to do the same.

If that's the case, then the people who will benefit most from these type of  discussions are those who have not yet reached "elite" levels. Even saying that word makes me want to roll my eyes.

I'm an elite player. U mad?

The term "Elite Xbox player" makes me roll my eyes too though.  Now there's an oxymoron if ever I saw one.

The term "elite player" in general is laughable in a game like this one.

To be fair though, I'd probably call myself an "elite" too if I managed to be relatively successful playing on your connection. It can't be easy lagging 2 hours behind everyone else in the game.

Yeah. This game isn't a PvP type of multiplayer. It's co-operative. No duh, right? But threads like this really try to milk whatever "competition" or "eliteness" can be gotten out of the game and it rubs other people the wrong way. It rubs me the wrong way.

Why did I even bother commenting here? Eh, I saw what I thought was part of a regular discussion thread on my friend's news feed and became curious.

 Here's a thought:

If one wants to make a truly elite group, they would not advertise it in the multiplayer forum board. They would hire men in black suits to secretly deliver letters of notice to each player's door step.

I hope Megabeast takes no offense to all that I've said here.

It's a way for the better players to know each other and get better games.
This isn't to compete or run DPS class serious business games 100% of the time.
It is a game played for fun, it is a group made for fun.
Get over yourself and your stereotype judgement.

You two be nice to each other... if you actually knew one another I'm sure you'd get along fine.

Cold is a laid back, chill guy with a sense of humor and Sue is one of the coolest chicks I know online and one of the VERY few that doesn't need carried.

If Cold wants to play with studs, and lead a group of studs... fine. If Sue wants to play with her group of friends, who may or may not be studs, fine. Sue it almost sounds as if you feel threatened or something... I know that's not it, I just can't put it into words.

Sometimes good players don't feel like carrying... and when we don't want to, this will let us network with each other. I don't see the problem here...

I will say... the Plat Duo thing is kind of silly. All it does is show off someones ability to kite and maintain situational awareness. Bahroo and I did it... only because he wanted to, and it wasn't any fun AT ALL IMO. I hate soloing/duoing... I play this game for the MULTI-PLAYER aspect. If I wanted to play alone... I have a whole stack of games where I can do that. Truth be told... ever since having a kid and being a full-time dad, my social life has dwindled significantly. I can't go out really ever anymore... so XBL and multi-player games is my social life... except when I go Spearfishing.

Ah, no need to come to my defense. I don't feel threatened and I would have no reason to be. I stumbled onto this group thread because I saw one of your comments in my newsfeed on the homepage and my curiosity was peaked. Then I read about its purpose and it struck me as arrogant and the complete opposite to how I view the ME3 multiiplayer. I've spent a lot of time playing PvP multiplayer games and ME3 is the first game in a while to have suckered me in even though it is focused on co-op. This is not a competitive game. People are playing against a gimpy A.I,, for chrissake. The "elite" talk that I see here reminds me very much of the type of stuff seen in message boards for games like Gears of War or the Call of Duty franchise but it also reminds me that there are different ways people enjoy this game no matter how indifferent I am towards that or how strange or silly I may find it(therefore, I'll shut my mouth from here on out). This being a public thread for everyone to read and anyone to comment on, I thought nothing of voicing my opinion of the group.

And about good players, there are many more than frequent posters here would lead us to believe. No one has to be "elite" in order to avoid being carried. Demanding that people play solos or duos is silly, so I suppose on that point we can agree.

I also find the use of the word stud interesting. I can't speak on your experience but I've come across several good female players in ME3. I would hate to be singled out simply because I was "competent", and that being noteworthy only because I ain't a dude, if you get my meaning.

He was being sarcastic, gender doesn't matter.
I have a couple of female gamers on my list who are good enough to join but don't come on BSN.

If there's any arrogance in the group it's likely in a joking fashion. Alot of us have been called Elitist Dbags so much that we just accept it and roll with it... the same way we accept Lord_Sirian and his humor. Why get all butt-hurt by a joke when you can roll with the punches and play along?

Honestly... who cares what people think. Who cares what I think... certianly not many.

I'm sure there are other good players out there besides the BSNers... but I'm not going to subject myself to hideous trash pugs in order to find a diamond in the rough... especially when I can just play with these fellas, which is ultimately the purpose of the group... to avoid pugs.

I've come across alot of 'serviceable' female players in ME3... but only a few who I would call badass. You and Qwiji (I probably butchered her name) are the only two I've personally met... the rest, had to be carried and lived at the bottom of the scoreboard by substantial margins. I don't even like playing with people like that regardless of gender... but there are other males who insist on bringing them to games just because they're female. I think that is the weakest, lamest crap ever.

So... sorry if you feel singled out... but you are a refreshing exception in an otherwise steady trend. I have yet to play with SimoneShepherd, and LadyNemesis... but LadyNemesis probably won't play with me because she said she would delete anyone she saw playing COD (herp a derp). I think Landylan is a woman too...
