Gold was chosen over platinum as it's all Collectors, and no other faction to "skew" the results.

I have games of laggy Drellguard and Phoenix Adept vs Collectors sitting on my computer. I wasn't going to do anything with them, but you're starting to convince me.

Still prefer the Drell if you're going with so-called 'caster' classes. Because of their speed, you can get swarms/plagues to self-detonate without blocking your powers by just sprinting through them. But yeah, SUPER squishy, so I imagine it'd be a bit tricky getting through with 0 gels.

The point was more to address that it's "impossible" according to some to fight Collectors as a "pure" caster.

If I'd taken a rapid fire weapon with AP rounds, it would have been a twenty-thirty minute match.

You can also dodge through swarms, pretty much negating a lot of the risk.

Yeah, it does. It proves Collectors can be killed by casters, even power only specced casters with impunity, hence the crappy pistol kill badge.

Given the DPS that a Phoenix can put out in addition to spamming stuff through obstacles, that's not really a "counter", either, and of course vanguards can kill swarms for free shield regen. So again, there is a rather pointy point.

Has nothing to do with epeen and everything to do with getting off your ass and actively fighting the enemy as opposed letting the 1/2/3 buttons do the work for you while you eat a sandwich in a bottleneck. Sitting on your butt spamming easy win points is the Demolisher's job.

A very simple fix for power negation is taking a complementary weapon and picking the appropriate mods thereof.

It's really that simple.

I fail to see the point why you played an AA instead of the Human Sentinel. Ignoring Stasis is kinda silly, to me that's like playing a Vanguard without Charge.

That's my point.
It was Feneckus I think that did a platinum match with lv1 characters with common weapons.
Sure that proves katanas and predators are platinum viable...

Except people aren't making multiple threads every week about how yuck common weapons are on platinum.

Pure caster, no "tricks", no optimization, no defensive juju or power that resists negation. Which is why no amps, and no buffs other than a gear piece. Just pure biotic boom boom.

(also I hate human classes, boring as hell)

For me, you made impossible possible. Great job.

But it`s also proof that squishy power based characters have hard time against collectors unless supported properly.


There are many hacking zones.. where you have to deal with constant Multi-frag grenade on the ground +  Scion laser beam.. along with infinite number of bullets & abominatons. Squishy power base characters alone cannot survive any of that for more than 3 seconds.. once you deplete Praetorian cap of 5-7 or so it becomes slightly easier though.

Collectors are an anti-caster faction.  Sure, it is doable, but much harder for a caster than for the game gods (shooty classes.) I'd love to see an anti-gun-spam faction and anti-gun enemies in the other factions and watch the rivers of tears flow from the gun spammer COD crowd. 


Since Bioware has gone so fully anti-power usage and pro-gun spamage I can only assume they think people who prefer power centric classes are the elite players who need to be handicapped greatly.   ME 3 is the only game I've ever seen where the highest DPS classes are also the tankiest.

your success (in 66 minutes) doesn't invalidate or really in any way affect complaints others may have regarding the Collectors.
