Ever since I first saw Tallis, I've wondered if Dragon Age will be moving to characters with realistic skin, in replace of the clear, mark-less skin, or if it's just because BioWare designed Tallis off of Felicia Day, that she had dots and whatever.

Is this the future of Dragon Age characters, or is it just a unique character design for Tallis?

It would be nice if a developer could answer this.

Would you, the players, want DA characters to have more realistic faces? Or at least realistic skin like Tallis? I realise many - or at least some - of you might disapprove of this, purely because you're not too fond of Tallis, but it's not like you won't like ANY characters in DA3, least of all because of their skin.

I am sure there are probably mods out there, but I agree it would be nice to be able to add a mole, like Cindy Crawford!

Agreed.

While I dont have a huge problem with it, it would be a lot better if the worked more with the skin. Right now, in certain lighting the skin looks plasticy. It becomes extreamely shiney.

Skin is supposed to absorb light, not reflect. Bascially reight now it looks like the characters arecovered in plastic. They did much better in the DLC for DA2, but i think they could go even further.

i know people whos skin glows at night, though not shiny. it pale-ness that causes it. but anyway id be more concerned about eyes, i mean izzy's are beautiful and clear, and tallis's are like cloudy.

Did you guys see the faces in Leviathan? They were noticeably... different. Especially the two main peoples, the doctor and his daughter, their names escape me. Now see, I'm all for realism (I'm not actually) but those two were sooooooooooo ugly. If everyone looked like that in Inquisition I DEMAND that there be a quest where you pass an edict that has everyone wear paper bags at ALL TIMES.

Possibly two in certain situations. xp

I want a clear face. I want to be able to see right through it.

For Da2, I always choose the more realistic face. The "clear" face looks plasticy to me. I'll change my avatar to one of my DA2 characters. I think they look good but it isn't the "clear" face.

More realistic features in general would be nice but yes especially the skins... The skin in DA2 was way to shiny, I often found what looked good in the extremely dark character creator looked terrible in game. Compared to ME's skin tones which worked rather well- some might say they were too "even" to be realistic but I think its fine. Might I say I would love to add freckles or scars to my character; even that would make the pretty boys were stuck with look better.

I find that trying to make realistic faces will often result in some characters slipping in the uncanny valley. If they don't have the tech to quite get it right then I prefer the smooth, not-really-realistic-but-still-nice skin they're using.

Clear faces.

'Realistic' faces don't actually look realistic.

Edit: Rereading, you seem to just be talking about things like freckles, scars, and wrinkles. Sure, include them on some characters.

I prefer the facial textures of DAO. They were sometimes a bit too shiny as well, but I still think they looked better than DA2's odd dough-like texture.

I assume this is the geezer you're talking about as he has a face which looks different from other ME3 characters. His problem isn't that he looks realistic but that he looks too plastic. However I doubt this is what the OP was on about and in comparison every character from an ME game looks realistic compared to characters from DA2. Just look:

Image IPB

Winkles, lines and a detailed stubble. Shepard looks realistic. Now let's look at a character from DA2:

Image IPB

No lines, no detail, no winkles, no nothing.

Not even a stubble.

So I don't think people are asking for extraordinary detail reminiscent of real life. People just want more realistic skin because not everyone has perfect skin (in fact all those adverts you see of women jumping and flying about with perfect skin are lies. Make-up does wonders but I'm pretty certain no one has perfect skin). Now let's look at another picture:

Image IPB

This is a face mod for Origins. It has more detail than any DA2 character. This is all I desire for DA3 in terms of faces. I want to come across warriors who actually look like warriors rather than models. I want to see winkles, scars, lines, moles and freckles.

I don't want to see this:

Sorry Anders.

P.S

Seriously Malcolm Cousland would absolutely devour Anders. Anders would be consumed by his own stomach when when looking at Malcolm's manliness and would die a very painful agonizingly slow death.

The perfect skins are OK for women but look very weird for men. Which probably says something about our culture, or just me.

No it's not just you. Women are meant to look beautiful.

Inb4 the feminist "no we are meant to look like men" crowd.

Joking aside, women do naturally have better looking skin than men along with better facial structure. Put it down to design or evolution or whatever but it's the truth. Still I doubt there's a woman out there who has truly perfect skin. The lack of winkles, scars, lines, moles and freckles for male and female alike in DA2 is almost hilarious.

To be fair, Mod-Anders has a scar over his right eye. A teeny, tiny scar that doesn't make him look any less REALLY FREAKING CREEPY. Jesus, who the hell made that, and for the love of God why?!

*ahem* I'm in favor of wrinkles, scars, and other realistic facial features.

You think that's the creepiest? I once visited the official Anders thread and had nightmares for weeks. I've never been the same since...

I've seen some **** in my time man but no man should see what lies in the Anders thread. They should put up a warning in the thread title "Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here."

Yes, yes, please yes. I'm not one to complain about graphics, but DA2's (and Tor) plastic faces are so damn ugly.

Please, Bioware, make better face textures if you can.

I fully support the "stubble on women" movement! Moustaches, too! ^_^

Well, to be fair, that's not Anders. That's someone's version of Anders, and it looks like a male hooker.

In my game I thought Anders looked satisfyingly worn out, especially in DA2.

On topic: Detail is always good.

It's not just you or the culture.  There are significant skin differences between men and women.

In response to the OP, I think the clear skins should remain an option, but I like the idea of being able to pick a few face textures with freckles, etc.  I'd also like to see them more in NPCs.  Aveline was a good step in that direction.

Is there a custom Shepard texture for ME3 like that DAO one?
