I'm sorry BSN, but the Shuriken is awesome.

It's passable with a scope to burst fire their faces. But not great. At least it weighs next to nothing.

OP: Nice to finally have someone say it, putting a gun on an infiltrator and scoring high doesn't prove anything. but then again, most reasonable guns will be bad to mediocre on an adept, and good to excellent on a soldier. so... damn i kinda lost the point i was going to make. i though quite a bit about weapon balancing the last few days and i got to the point where i don't know what to say or think. anyone feel the same? can someone give me reasonable arguments on how to feel about "bad" guns and what makes them so?

By the way, I'm pretty sure I and all the humans around would never be able to outscore Jay, even when using a TGI with typhoon when he's using a lvl 1 drell adept with a hornet.
Outscore him by 85k? Lol, never thought I'd see that
Anyway, Shadow is a great class to carry a gold PUG team. Using him with a coordinated team of strong players can be... Frustrating at the very least.

Well the current yardstick I use is if I can outscore Jay when he's using a certain gun, the gun is most likely bad. Unless there were mitigating circumstances.
Everyone has their own standards though. My standards for what makes a good gun are probably a bit higher than most people's.

Can we include the N7 Destroyer into this "it's not the weapon, it's the class" category?

so with the same loadout jay will always be better/score higher? i might have to play with him once and see what this is all about.
edit: let's reduce this to weapon focussed loadout.

His aim is just incredible... like Feneckus says... he has cyborg implants.
There aren't many players who are better than I am at this game... but Jay's one of them.

If he is using a headshot capable weapon and your name isn't Stentron or thee3nd, then chances are pretty high. No-one really believes it when everyone talks about it, you really have to see him in action to know why.

Okay, that much about modesty.... but i think i can accept that as a valid measurement. so tell me then, Lord sirian, what guns are bad?

To me a bad gun is something that won't work even if you put it on a GI.

Out of the rares, I would say the following (in no particular order of 'badness'):
Hornet, Disciple, Argus, GPR, CAR, Arc Pistol, Striker, GPSMG, Krysae.
Obviously I don't think weapons like the Falcon or the Acolyte are bad because they are utility weapons that perform their designed functions very well.

You can't really judge the Striker or Krysae based on how Jay does with them though

There aren't weapons that are good on one character and bad on another. Good weapons are, well, always good. The only difference between characters with powers that increase weapon performance is that they will be slightly better, but those characters usually lack the utility others have.
One thing that I consider important is how well certain weapons mesh with power usage & cooldowns. Having a good rhythm between shooting & casting can make quite a difference in overall performance.

Well there are *some* characters which just genuinely aren't very good, particularly in lobbies filled with good players.
I'm sorry to tell you this though... the Drellguard isn't one of them. He's extremely good if played right.
classes which genuinely have poor damage output are probably:
Phoenix classes
Shadow
human adepts (maybe)
human sentinels (again maybe)
Turian Havoc
You could argue for a few more, but those are the classes which you could probably expect to do poorly, especially in lobbies with good players.

Except that the Drell Vanguard is actually good.
Fast travel time + high DPS through either cluster grenades or the ability to carry heavier weapons. Squishy, but 50% DR from charge would give him enough time to throw 2 cluster grenades at ~3000 total damage per cluster with power synergy charge. Him, the Brosoldier and the Male Quarians are probably the best spawn nukers in the game.
