At the Leviathans' time the lesser organic species created machines that destroyed them, so the leviathans created the catalyst to find a solution to this problem, and then he almost exterminated them and turned them into the first reaper because they apparently were part of this problem... How?

because in creating the catalyst, THEY created a machine/AI.....that ultimately became more powerful than them.....hence, part of the problem.

I love that part where a self-called savior and from our point of view nothing more than a genocidal mad AI, telling you that synthetics and organics are both part of problem, Leviathans are part of problem but... but AI himself with his Reaper gang is not part of problem... NO NO NO they are here to save us... /facepalm

The Leviathans tasked the Catalyst with preserving life at all costs until it could find a common connection between organics and synthetics, and end the evitable conflict between the two.

The Catalyst created the Reapers as part of this task, and the Reapers preserved the Leviathans.

Because they created a society that looks down on what they deem less advanced life. Synthetics would never been seen as equals thus conflict was inevitable.

Well many say that the holo kid is flawed and kinda broken in a way and I agree with that cause the catalyst logic and intelligence is flawed

It's both right and wrong at the same time and a hippocrite... It's genious and madness and lacks the ability to use introspection...

Mad genious? Psychopath.... Hybris.... It could have been a great character tbh, but our interaction with it, and the way the story was treated makes it frustrating and anoying.

With some tweaking of the storytelling, and people might actualy have come to love the character instead of hate it...

I think that answer is simple.

Leviathan considered themselves something better then other races, but their AI during research across galaxy catalogued them as same organics like everyone else, because cold computer AI mind didn't see objective reason for subjective feelings of their supremacy. For AI there were only organics, synthetics and - by its opinion - their optimal combination in form of Reaper.

And because Leviathans were most powerful in galaxy and greatest possible threat for its solution, AI started with them.

Because the Leviathans apparantly used red lyrium in the Catalyst's creation...

I have a feeling that in retcon land at Bioware, the Reapers mimic the form of the Leviathans, and their tactics of mind control and stuff, due to porly programmed 'don't turn on your creators' stuff put into the Catalyst, which was poorly programmed in general, because the Leviathans, or whoever they forced to program it, were bad at programming (or the programmer(s) were trying to screw them over to some degree in a sneaky way). The Catalyst probably wouldn't bother with indoctrination and certain inefficiencies in it's strategies and tactics, or the collection, creation, and deploying of cybernetic ground troop zombies if it weren't trying to make sure the Reapers still count as the Levaithans and their civilization according to it's programming. This is part of Bioware's inner secret excuses to try to explain the fail that was the ending, even with extended cut.:wizard:

Agree with this.

The AI doesn't distinguish organic life forms.  Sufficiently advanced synthetics will be unstoppable if they fight organics.  The Leviathans, as the most advanced organics, were the most likely to (eventually) create such sufficiently advanced synthetics.  So the AI had to stop that from being possible.

The Reapers themselves don't suffer from this problem because, as part organic and part synthetic, they have the common belief / programming that they are the final evolution of life.  Therefore, they preserve organic life by their very existence, but will not create more advanced synthetics than themselves, becuase they consider themselves to be the 'apex race'.

Both Reapers and Leviathans hence do suffer from the same God complex mentality.  Their arrogance in trying to dominate all other life, and believing it is their right to do so, makes them what they are (in simple terms - bad guys).

Basically it was hubris, which is the best form of creating a problem because it makes even the most illogical moves logical to the minds of those who make them. The Leviathans thought they were solving a problem through logic, in the end their own hubris made a bigger one.

Turning the Leviathans into Reapers, was the Catylst's only solution, to the problem. As far as I know, the Leviathans were not seen as part of the problem, they were just the solution, because they were, by far, the most powerful species around, at the time.
