I think a little dick would go a long way in that respect.

I could get behind that.

Or hey, in front of it. Whatever floats your boat.

Hang on guys, I'm not sure about this.

It might be a lot to take in.

If BioWare puts male nudity in DA3, CDPR can put even more male nudity in its next game and then claim in the press that BioWare got the idea of penises from them.

If I remember correctly, the females in TW2 have all the bits in place while Geralt has some... Ken going on down there. If I'm wrong, then it's still my headcanon and Geralt submits pictures of his tongue to Ok Cupid.

It's a joke based on an interview where a producer from CDPR claimed that BioWare essentially got the idea for romances in their games from them.

I wish I could find the link.

Oh. That was a funny joke!

Also, isn't BioWare doing romances since BG2, which goes waaaaay back?

It is worth the risk.  Even the darkest of caves can be a rewarding experience for a woodsman that knows how to handle himself.

I think fade to black still gets the message across, costs way less and avoids the awkward DAO underwear issue. So I'm fine with fade to black.

It wasn't full frontal nudity, but it wasn't a ridiculous small cloth/blackout scene. I think it would be nice to see at least that in DA3.

If the DA teams wants they could even do a Witcher 2 style romance scene.I can confirm that no little boys had their heads explode as a result of watching the Witcher 2 scenes, so I'm sure Fox News will leave it alone. If not you can point out God of War and Witcher 2 and use them as a scapegoat.

My preference would be to not do any sex scene at all, to be honest. I know that any such aversion means we get posts of how we must be being censored, or how we're not embracing the "adult" grittiness that is the Witcher, but meh.

Fade to black screens is the least awkward way of doing a romance.

I really hope they have ME level sex scenes. Personally, I feel it detracts from the story when they don't. You spend all this time building towards what should be a really tender and romantic moment of two characters becoming physical, then it just gets hand waved away with a cut to black or some terrible porno with the character dry humping each other. It's increadibly jarring and feels like a disservice to the characters and their entire relationship.

Not that I'm saying a sex scene should be the "reward" for completing a romance (and I actually think romances should have a lot more after the sex), but from a story point of view, I personally feel it's a rather important step in the character relationships and don't like it being glossed over or treated poorly. Some people will say that you don't actually need to see it for it to retain its importance, but you could say that about any story element. May as well have cut to black when Hawke found Leandra's body. Oh, what's that? You feel that's a vital part of the story and character's development and would like to see it played out in a mature and serious way with your own eyes? Well that's how I feel about the sex scenes.

Hm,I see official responses here, that such scenes are wasted resources. Then I ask, what are f.e. all these finisher moves, which we can see in Origins? Nobody needs to see how somebody is stabbed in the head or even beheaded. Or all the pointless blood splatter all over the body, which most people deactivate in the options. Or the exploding corpses in DA2?

Combat is a part of the game everyone experiences.

Romances are optional content.

Adding some special sauce to the part of the game that everyone is guaranteed to see makes more sense.

And do we have to see al the things I described? Are they essential to feel good? Isn't f.e. a simple kill , where the enemy falls dead to the ground enough?

Juicy kills do make a better trailer, and yes, some sort of reaction beyond falling limp does add to the visceral feeling of combat and a sense of badassery. I would bet most game designers would agree that if all enemies simply fell over upon death, combat might get stale.

However, if this is where you're going with this train of thought, this thread isn't about the hypocrisy of hiding sex/highlighting violence.

I only questioned the statement a developer wrote down here, that love scenes are wasted ressources, when in contrast gore which many people would (or actually with the splatter do) deactivate in the options seem to be well spend ressources.

Understood.

Again, though, even if you can tweak some aspects combat experience, combat is a part of the game everyone experiences. The ability to turn on/off gore is actually very important, because combat is mandatory, being the core gameplay. If it repulses some people, they might not play the game. If they don't like a certain romance, they don't have to initiate it, but can still play the game.
