Am I the only person that doesn't really care for DPS or debuff or any of those silly terms?

I know what these terms mean but I care little for people trying to explain them to me. I'm the same with the PSP games Monster Hunter. All these damage multipliers, terms and numbers just annoys me. Instead of telling me how much damage I'll do with a maxed out greatsword with green sharpness, how about I just press buttons until nothing is alive?
Yeah, I'll do that.

That just sounds like a lot of fuzzy math to me.

I find the numbers helpful, and I am appreciative of guys like Cyonan who keep up with them.

The words I really don't care for that are totally BSN abused...

I don't understand... what exactly bothers you? The terms? The use of them as ways to define how effective certain combinations might be? What?
I think the OP's issue is that theorycrafting often ends up determining what is and is not acceptable to use in your loadout, despite 10% differences in this or that stat not actually making any practical difference.

Hey, well, that's what silver is for. Don't gotta move up if you don't want to.

It's fun when you go "pew pew" and stuff dies...
However my first experience with the GPR (first unlocked it) was more like:
"Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew... *looks at watch* pew pew *yawns* pew..." ... stuff died.
So it does matter a little.

You're basically saying you don't care about game mechanics.
I wonder if you spam grenades at Phantoms and wonder why it's not doing anything.

As a side note, they are old gaming terms. I'd question your intelligence as a gamer if you didn't know what dps meant. Additionally, being simple-minded has nothing to do with your nationality you ethnocentric douche.

Silly? At least those are relevant. Go play an MMO and you'll be smashing your keyboard after you hear toon or reroll for the 50th time.

DPS is a useless stat. Debuff however is a very usefull stat. a target taking 25% more damage takes it regardless of any circumstance. with DPS is always a caluclation based on landing eveyr shot w/o stopping to take cover or move and with perfect reload cancelign eevry time. basically a perfect situation which dones't happen often

It does matter to an extent. There are casual players and then hardcore players. We understand that you want to play with the weapon that is fun. Now you can do that on broze and silver all you want. But in the case of gold/platinum, this is where the more technical aspects of the game come in handy. IMO, if I see a weapon based class with a shuriken because its their "fun" weapon, then please do it on silver or bronze. Dont mean to be a jerk but dmg wise you would just be a hindrance. More so if youre not geared to the teeth with lv3-4 consumeables with a gun like that.

I try not to care about DPS. My favourite guns are the Argus and the Kishock, both of which are fairly average on the DPS front. I like them because they're fun to use, and they have character.
Debuffing, on the other hand, is just sensible. You'd be suprised how easy a gold match becomes if a team focusses 4 different debuff powers on the same target. Banshees and Atlases drop like flies

You're not the only one that doesn't care... but I am not there with you.
Analyzing the stats allows me to determine (on paper) what is likely to be the best combination, what allows me to contribute the most to the group. I like to ensure I am carrying my own weight, not relying entirely on the assistance of others, so I find this quite useful.
Of course, pre-combat analysis is limited in its use, so post-combat analysis is also required... but it's still better than going in blind.

I love debuffing. Tactical scan looks really cool on my omni-tool. Knowing that the enemy I'm scanning through the walls for my teammates is now taking at least 25% more damage makes me even happier.

Not sure if American comment meant to refer to ignorant cowboy-ism or american obsession with measurement, both being applicable stereotypes of contrary meaning here.
I like to know the number side of games, but do understand that some have very good instincts about what works and what does not, without direct knowledge of underlying calculations. Some people can just feel it out.

Im with you. I don't care what it means to debuff the panties off my friend's sister or that DPS stands for most thread starters on this forum, Dicks Per Second. If I see one more post about solo videos or builds, I'm going to bow before the Rachni Queen.

On bronze and Silver it probably doesn't matter but play a Platinum match and then tell us if DPS doesn't matter or help. Granted that some players can use anything well but even they have to admit DPS will make their life easier.
Weapon/power DPS is exactly the same as debuffing. Debuffs usually lowers the enemies defenses thus increasing your overall DPS. Both DPS and debuffs are the same thing because ultimately it comes down to Damage Per Second inflicted on the enemy.
