Am I the only person that doesn't really care for DPS or debuff or any of those silly terms?

I just use powers and space bullets to kill things. I don't care for these stats. WHO ELSE AGREES

EDIT: As a side note, No, I'm not American.

DPS is a useless stat. Debuff however is a very usefull stat. a target taking 25% more damage takes it regardless of any circumstance. with DPS is always a caluclation based on landing eveyr shot w/o stopping to take cover or move and with perfect reload cancelign eevry time. basically a perfect situation which dones't happen often

I use what I like, not necessarily because it works best. This is why I like silver difficulty. It's neither too easy nor so hard that certain characters and weapons will struggle.

What does not being American have to do with it?

I don't even know whether DPS means damage per shot or damage per second.

No, DPS is not an useless stat. It's useful for those who actually can optimally use a weapon. You need to be half decent at this game though.

I don't care about what has the best DPS or any of that stuff.
I just use what I like.
And the things I like leave a few large holes in the enemies, or a lot of smaller ones.

Yeah, most people that play this game don't care about being effective in combat or knowing maths.

Not caring about DPS is one thing, and completely justifiable. Not caring about debuffs? Get out. If you play for your own fun to the exclusivity of helping your team, you're not worth taking along. Play single player if you're not going to help your team in a co-op MP.

So not picking the BEST loadout 100% of the time because people think it's good... is not being effective? When did games become a game of math and not about fun?

Is this call of duty? The URL is misleading me...

I have seen it used as both in many different situations, but damage per second is far more common.

It is most certainly not an absolute stat, however.

Absolutely. It's one thing amongst others.

But saying it's useless is wrong.

The actual numbers: not so much. But the practical effect: of course. There's a reason some weapon/class setups are just a chore to play with. Not hurting the bad guys enough is a common one.

The players that are familiar with weapon/power/class stats and the game mechanics tend to be better at the game.

Gee, I wonder why?

i choose team synergy. if we have a hard hitting character i may choose debuff or crowd control or a tanky character not always dps. it depends on the team setup. i tend to change characters after a game.

I like being able to kill stuff, so I rather like debuffs and considerations of damage output.

I take it you mean you don't like the theory and just do what works in practice? Not everything that works in theory works in practice, but understanding the theory means you save a lot of practice time.

Terms like "debuff" and "DPS" are vital when discussing the viability of weapons and characters.

Player skill is even more vital when discussing the "viability" of weapons and characters because everything is "viable" in the hands of a good player.

"debuff", "DPS" and other terms that refer to in-game stats are more useful when comparing weapons, classes and powers to one another.

I guess I'll just take this and never clutch gold again with it.

I care enough to understand how to use each character while having some fun.

It's boring to use always the same char and the same weapon.

I hope you're not arguing against his post, and supporting the OP with that post because the irony would probably break the internet.

Would someone elaborate on how it was exactly that that class builder tool was created? Preferrably without all of the technical terms, because derailing the OP's thread with statistics and mathematical talk would be poetic justice a tragedy.
