I love the Mass Effect Series. The choices you made and such, still I just played one game of a genre I also love and the choices there are much thougher.

In Mass Effect, you always know what your choice leads to, there is absolutely no surprise (except for the ME3 endings)

In this game you don't have a dialogue wheel, you just have a choice, like kill this guy or kill that guy... if you're to late someoe will escape with a hostage. at one point someone urges you to "finish it" and kill the supposed villain (with a bag over his head) by shooting him through the head. Apparently you could also just shoot him in the leg, what would mean a whole different outcome.

And this surprised me, I believe Mass Effect is surpassed by an FPS game regarding choices that really matter.

It's called Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Not nearly as fun as the whole ME series but when playing this game it totally flabbergasted me. I thought I was making all the right decisions and still got the worst endinfg.

Anyone else played this game ?

Why would I play it?, It's been the same game since CoD4.

I get your point though. Bioware tells great stories in many ways, but they're about as childish as possible when it comes to good/evil. In that way I much prefer the Witcher 1 and 2. There is not really any good/evil there, just two sides with both good and bad in them.

Dunno if you played all of them, but the Treyarch CoD's are quiet different then the IW ones.

Black Ops was surprisingly good regarding story-telling, Black Ops 2 is MUCH better. It doesn't feel like CoD. It's an FPS, okay... though really interesting.

And I agree, The Witcher series have surpassed Bioware's storytelling a long time ago.

On a sidenote that it's not BioWare anymore, it has now become as subsidiary of EA once the owners sold out to EA.

I do not know what you all are expecting but it's over. The only thing BEAWare wants to see now is hard money. nothing else.

So get over it. BioWare is finished. And so has ME and DA.

Don't care, to me, Mass Effect and Dragon Age along side The Witcher will always be the best in branching storyline. Black Ops 2 is the same game with outdated engine, nothing innovative, just new to the CoD series, that's all.

Um, i would not classify Mass Effect as a game with branching storylines. That's pushing it.

No.

A dice roll is not a choice. It's a dice roll.

That is the complete opposite of 'choices mattering.' And worse, it's the complete opposite of heroism mattering.

'Surprise' is easy and cheap. Anyone can write a story full of surprise. It's not a mark of good storytelling.
