UPDATE:

Mass Effect 3 won Best RPG: www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2012-nominees/voting/best-rpg

-------------------------------------------

www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2012-nominees/voting/game-of-the-year

Highly surprising that Halo "Doritos" 4 wasn't nominated for GOTY, considering that Geoff Keighley is the producer of the show lol. But good. And highly positively surprised that both Journey and Walking Dead are nominated for GOTY. They never nominated indies/arcade titles before for GOTY, not even Limbo, yet this year they picked two.

ME3 is also nominated for Best DLC (Leviathan), Best RPG, Best Performance by a Human Female (Jennifer Hale) & Best Character (Commander Shepard; this category is fan-voted)

None of those are game of the year worthy.

Then what 5 games would you pick instead?

i hope jennifer hale gets the award. her performance was perfect.

the competition this year is not very tough ... me3 might even win a title ... imo not really deserved but due to the weak other titles.

ME3 deserves none of those.

The only one I might consider is the female VA, because I have not heard any the other voice actors. And no Mark Meer on the male VA list?

Besides, the spike VGA is a joke anyway.

Where's the 'disappointment of the year' award nomination? ME3 certainly doesn't deserve game of the year, nor rpg of the year, since it was more of a tps than an rpg anyway...

Why have they done this way before Hitman: Absolution comes out? Early reviews are pointing at it being a strong contender.

Bah, Spike is run by idiots anyhow.

Stuff said in PC Gamer review indicates that it may be yet another controversial AAA game this year though, following Diablo 3, ME3, AC3, RE6 etc.

That said review in PC Gamer has been almost panned critically though. The reviewer was clearly a troll looking for attention because both Official Playstation Magazine and Official Xbox Magazine have given the game a 9/10.

Also, I saw the first couple missions on YouTube and I can confirm what that PC Gamer "reviewer" if you want to call him that said is complete and utter b/s.

Best Wii/Wii U game, ZombieU. That game isn't even out!
Best Graphics, Halo 4. A console game should NEVER be nominated for best graphics. (and Graphics =/= Art Style/Presentation)

Anyway, back to Mass Effect 3.
GotY, no.
Best RPG, hell no.
Female VA, hell yes.
DLC, Leviathan is the only one DLC I played this year so far. Can't comment.

The VGA's are all crap anyway, most nominations make no sense, and it's all one big advertisement show. Why people continue to watch them is beyond me.

I love how we take this seriously, when some of these games have not been released yet, and others are just a flash in the pan-style of nomination.

No game this year deserves GOTY so the name of the award should be changed to "Least Crappy but still Sucky Game of the Year"....same for RPG. Mass Effect 3 deserves no awards here period. BioWare should be automatically excluded from all awards and critic scores higher than 60 until they deliver a game as good as KotOR with a choice-consequence system as evolved as that of New Vegas or Alpha Protocol.

One game that was bug-ridden and forgotten because people are on Bethesda's ****, while the other is barely playable and has some good bits to it.

Good bar to set.

well it seems like the votes will go to the game who failed not as hard as the others on the list ... sad times for old school gamers.

but hale would have earned her reward.

All games have their problems really but neither of those had anything unbearable or too annoying....not on the consoles anyway, nothing above minor bugs/annoyances and I've played them all from day one and on PC even an unplayable wreck is better than Origin. I'll take a few minor bugs over full-on zero choice auto dialogue with missing ending any day. But hey, none of that matters because YAY MULTIPLAYER!!!! Let's go replay the same two maps a million times in a row YAY.....as entertaining as smashig your head against a wall for hours on end.

AP was perfectly playable, a bit too easy in fact.

But if those are the best candidates to RPG of the year, it´s been a bad year indeed.

Are you guys all really that cynical? Considering the game of the year list, its actually a pretty good year. Although the lack of Xenoblade Chronicles on that list disturbs me...

Keep in mind I liked both games a lot.

They are just not game of the year material, or RPG of the year material for that matter in the years they came out, which went to Mass Effect 2 I believe.

I'd have voted Dishonored for GOTY seeing as how ME3 doesn't deserve it I feel, I haven't played ACIII, The Walking Dead, while a great series I don't think warrants a GOTY... it's a damn point and click.

Dishonored was the only choice for me.. not like it matters since Spike will give it to ME3 anyway.

You can't honestly be surprised though? What with the greedy corporations having taken over most of the industry and turned games from an entertainment product into a shameless money grab (with a few exceptions). When have meddlesome corporations ever improved an industry?

Every year I have to wonder. Why do they call it 'human female'? Is there some other species in the running?

I'll be honest. The only ME3 thing I voted for was Jennifer Hale as best female role.

C'mon guys. She deserves it. Nearly picked Clementine from Walking dead though.

I casted my votes for ME3. But I will admit this year was pretty weak. Next year though, an entirely different story.
