Highly surprising that Halo "Doritos" 4 wasn't nominated for GOTY, considering that Geoff Keighley is the producer of the show lol. But good. And highly positively surprised that both Journey and Walking Dead are nominated for GOTY. They never nominated indies/arcade titles before for GOTY, not even Limbo, yet this year they picked two.
ME3 is also nominated for Best DLC (Leviathan), Best RPG, Best Performance by a Human Female (Jennifer Hale) & Best Character (Commander Shepard; this category is fan-voted)
i find it hilarious that leviathan got nominated.
also best rpg isnt really deserved, becouse i could'nt roleplay shep because autodialogue.
other two nominations i do think they deserve.

But Spike's VGA is pretty sketchy in terms of their award process. Its only the big name companies that win most of the time.

Love it how they bought this Spike TV guy...what's his name already - Geoff Knighley? Casey Hudson's buddy... The guy who - by luck - happened to make the Mass Effect 3 iOS app. Way to "buy" awards! Well done
/sarcasm
PS: the VGA jury & Geoff Knighley himself can't even explain the plot problems explained here:

Looks like "good writing" is not needed to win 'Best RPG' award...

Best Spike awards ever. I never paid much attention before and but this years results were very pleasing and I may actually bother to tune in next year. The Walking Dead definetly deserved Game of the Year and it proved to BioWare that you -DON'T- need to turn your game into a Gears of War knock-off to sell millions of copies and have your praises sung.
Glad Clem won Best Female. Hale dropped the ball big time in ME3 and wwaayy over acted the whole "tough girl" act. It was spot on in ME1/2 so why try to sound like you're devouring gravel now? Hey look at that, a kid in a video game people don't want to shoot! Keep paying attention BioWare, you could learn a lot from Telltale.

It would have been more deserving if ME3 won awards for its music or characters.

When your competition for best RPG is Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 its not exactly a surprise it won.
Dragon’s Dogma, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Borderlands 2, Guild Wars 2 say HI :]
@Kleli I applaude this!

ME3 is an RPG. Get over it. You make choices, and even if they don't partially matter, it still is a choice. Butthurt cream won't solve this case, so deal with the pain.

It's not an RPG, it's an Action RPG. Big difference. Third person shooter with little rpg elements. But with the auto dialogues me3 became more like an interactive movie sadly. Press A (paragon) or B (renegade) to continue. Can't even lol to that, it's so sad.

Bingo. With ME2 it became more action heavy, but it was still chalk full of rich dialogue, exploration and sidequests. ME3 went waaaaaay too far towards the action side of things. This game is a shooter before it even comes close to being an RPG.

By the same logic, you could argue that Blackops 2 is an RPG. Maybe we should have a slightly more strict definition for RPGs that does not automatically include every game ever?ME3 is an RPG. Get over it. You make choices, and even if they don't partially matter, it still is a choice.
