Assassin's Creed 3 was released after Borderlands 2, and only one week before Halo 4. Besides, both games are nominated in other categories.

Lack of Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 makes this list invalid to me. If forced to choose one, I'd go with Dishonored.

Borderlands 2 was released almost a month before Dishonored.

yeah, just noticed when cross refrencing release dates.

my bad

I meant that more as a criticism of the list of games, not a jab.

It seems a little strange, to be honest. I put it down to the low number of categories, more than anything else.

Are you insane? The five in the GOTY circle is a pretty fair group if you ask me.

Why is Halo 4, Max Payne 3 or Diablo 3 not on that list?

Diablo 3 was complete crap.

You may have never played D1 or D2, but in D3 they took everything that was great about the franchise, everything that first spiked my interest back on my first PC back in 1997, out of it, turning it from Diablo into a generic top-down view RPG.

I played all Diablo games and even though D2 is far better, i had a better time playing D3 than ME3.

I agree.

2012 might not have major masterpieces like 2010 or 2011, but it definitely have a lot of great games.

Yeah but some of the best aren't listed there.

Btw if ME3 wins GOTY i'm gonna lose my mind.

Nomination? No. Actually winning a lot? Yes.

The most lopsided poll I've ever made on BSN

social.bioware.com/1707548/polls/38987/

look at when that poll was made, it was done during the whole "ending suckls, Mass Effect is forever ruined, wah wah wah," incident.

as a result, most of the "No" votes were probably raged induced, and thus should not be taken seriously

Actually the poll was made nearly two months after the EC. A time when everyone was fawning over Bioware "fixing" ME3.

If the extended cut (more like extended crap) failed to satisfy many that has no bearing on an otherwise separate question.

Isen't the best subjective to begin with.

Although I don't understand why we care anyway, since this award show is crap.

If you have to care for any award, care for the AIAS awards.

These awards are a joke. Mass Effect 3 is a good game at best. Definitely not GOTY worthy. I know people hate comparing the two, but Halo 4 is a far better game than Mass Effect 3 could ever be in it's wildest wet dreams. And yet it gets shunned for GOTY. All of the trilogy spanning relationships that got ME3 the nomination mean nothing when they unfolded and over half of them were an absolute waste of time.

Not a chance in hell. In terms of character development, Mass Effect has always been far superior to anything else out there. And don't think I enjoy saying it, because I so much more enjoy Mass Effect than Halo. But Mass Effect 3 was an utter failure. And in that same character development, Halo 4 really excels.

What really makes Halo 4 better than Mass Effect 3 is because Halo 4 doesn't try to be something it''s not. I don't know what ME game you were playing, but the one I played reached so high and fell flat on it's face.

I forgot what happened in halo 1,2,3....honestly dont know whats so great about it. Story seemed very boring and cliche to me.

After pointing and shooting for the 1000th time it gets kinda boring.

I think its time they tried something different.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone else is surprised that ME3 wouldn't be in the VGAs for GOTY. They got beaten out by Skyrim for the Golden Joysticks, but again, that's Skyrim, which is ridiculously stiff competition, and of the two I'm not sure I could've decided which was really the better game for the year.

I think ME3 has a great chance of winning. Not that winning the Spike VGAs actually means anything at all, but oh well.

I'm not trying to force my opinion on you. But I can't see anyone who cares about the franchise that actually thinks that Mass Effect 3 is on the same level as it's predecessors. I don't think it's a bad game. But it's just ok. And in the comparison to the first two it's a complete failure. Hardly GOTY worthy material.

Mind telling me what's so cliche about it? You mean the big bad aliens that attack humaity for untold reasons and you uncover a plot that could destoy all life in the galaxy so you proceed to go shoot those Collectors- I mean Covenant and  those  Geth- I mean those Prometheans and husk-I mean flood?

Sounds a lot like Mass Effect, so I guess they're both cliche by your standards.

The best part about the Halo was the Arbiter, because he was the only character that had a personality and showed growth throughout the series.

No one liked him because he wasn't Master Chief, nor did they give a damn about how deep the Covenant were. So no, most Halo fans don't care about that, or they did and ****ed when his role was reduced in Halo 3.
