[HALO 4 SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK]bobbydarko wrote...
Cdrskyshepard, halo 4 is a great game. I'm a lvl 56 right now. I love it. But I do not agree with most on it's single player.
Spoilers for HALO4
IMO it has two characters, chief and cortana. the rest a bunch of nameless marines and some scientist. I beat the game in 4 1/2 hrs on heroic. They created an antagonist and then did nothing with him. (no boss fight? Seriously, that's how you win?)
The single player played great, was excellently paced, and it did show chief as a better character, but the plot was weak IMO. Awesome game. Awesome story? No. Not to me anyway.
I'd rather have two well-developed characters and follow them through a story than have a ton of well-developed characters and have them all but forgotten later on. Or worse, written out of character.
As for the bold...um. Where have we seen this recently? This exact same scenario? Harbinger, perhaps? Are you trying to use this as an example of why Halo 4 doesn't deserve a nomination over ME3? If so, that's...not gonna work, because that is exactly what happens in ME3. At least Halo 4 is the first game in the trilogy, not the last, so I can understand why they introduced an insanely powerful Forerunner character and not much became of him. The implication is that there are many, many more like him and you'll have to deal with them at some point in the future.
Were there things to be improved? Sure. But I'm much more willing to forgive 343i, who are newcomers, than BioWare, who committed many story sins of their own with ME3, and they are a veteran developer in terms of complex stories. And, IMO, they created a very weak story for ME3. I can't even say it was an awesome game. Game was alright, story was weak. Considering the story is ME's bread and butter, that's pretty inexcuseable.
