I think ME3 should win every award possible. It's legen... wait for it... dary. Boware really came through with EC and showed they can handle pressure and facing a majorly dissappointed audience. GOTY really isn't enough. ME series should get the GODY (d=decade) award.
And like that you've lost me.

Moreover I'm not really sure how a slide show with some voiceover and a goodbye scene really quallifies as "Showed they can handle pressure"
Yes, it did. I'm not ashamed to say that I did not get the ending when the game came out. It took me pretty much six months to get the ending. That process could've been much faster if the game had been what it is now when it came out, but never the less, everything needed was already there. I just needed it to be more fleshed out to fully get it.

The ending is great, the execution is what lacked and I think Bioware did the right thing with not changing it. And I like the "slideshows." They are awesome.

Are
you serious?  The Extended Cut failed to address most of the concerns
of the disenchanted fanbase.  It appeased some, as evidenced on these
forums, but by and large, you will see tons of fans whose requests and
concerns were completely ignored by the extended cut.  And someone will
spout how you can't appease everybody, which is true, but just go view a
video by MrBTongue or Smudboy, or Archengia, or any of the very well
informed fans of the series and you'll see the shear disappointment that
resonates in countless fans and how for them, the logic flaws of the
ending retroactively destroys the series for them.
I am serious. I've watched the videos Archengeia, SmudBoy and Mr.BigTongue have done and I enjoyed them all. They all make great points but in the end I disagree with them all. Archengeia and I believe MrBTongue both used the term "believable" in their vids; meaning that the story needs to stay believable. For me the story of Mass Effect does that. I'm just about to finish "my perfect playthrough" of all three games and I love how the story unfolds. With all the DLC and all missions accomplished in all three games the story really comes together and is believable.

And as for the slideshow, see my answer above.

It boggles the mind really.

One slide show

One Goodbye scene

2 lines of extra dialogue with the brat

And its supposed to quallify for best game of the decade?

I've watched Pokemon episodes with better writing than ME3's last ten minutes...
Pokemon is an awesome tv-series, and especially the first season had really good writing. If ME3 is on the same level with Pokemon, it has reached a level of awesomeness.

The
state of gaming really must be bad if ME3 is in with a chance.  I
bought GW2 recently and comparing the 2 I would have thought that would
be in with a strong chance, as would (it grates me to say) the latest
COD stuff.

I get that you all dislike ME3, I do not. I love how it ties in the two games that came before it and makes me feel like the choices I made truly have mattered. It's an awesome end to an awesome series.

So yes, I do think that ME3 should win every possible GOTY award. It deserves them. And ME-series needs to be announced as holding the shared first place for the best game in history (the first place is shared naturally with PS:Torment and the original UFO: Enemy Unknown)-

Lack of Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 makes this list invalid to me. If forced to choose one, I'd go with Dishonored.

they were released to late in the year to qualify, however they may qualify for next year

Borderlands 2 was released almost a month before Dishonored.

True on Borderlands but Halo 4 did release to late to qualify as a nominee

Thought about doing the same, but i didn't cause it would just give the wrong signal to BioWare if ME3 won.
For best studio 343 deserves it more than anyone else.

Please....if you cannot see that Mass Effect 3 is heavily favored to win the most GOTY awards, you are ignorant.

The other games had their shot, but they flopped...Almost every other blockbuster is under 90 Metacritic this year...Halo 4, Diablo III (hell, its beaten by an indie Diablo clone) COD BO2, ACIII, XCOM, etc. The best reviewed game this year is ME3, at 93 for the console versions.

GET OVER IT

There there. I'm sure if you type angrilly enough on your computer screen you might convince someone other than yourself some day. =]

or maybe the fact is taht you need to accept reality....there is going to be a lot of whiners come award season.
