Possible ME4 - ME6 Story Arc

So, in conversation with another Mass Effect fan, the following idea came about:
The possible sequel trilogy for Mass Effect 3 could take place at the same time as the Reaper invasions of Milky Way Galaxy, or shortly before it. The protagonist would not be Shepard, but another Spectre. This Spectre would have his/her own team (or Solo like Saren), and they would be on a mission to ??? while the Reapers are roaming the Galaxy. This would be ME4 and ME5.
The ending for ME5 would take us into the final battles found in ME3.
The beginning for ME6 would have the Spectre and their team go in and extract Shepard from the wreckage of the Catalyst/Citadel. This is when the Mass Effect 6 title logo will show. Faunts' "M4 part 2" will kick in, allowing the following lyrics to make sense:
-----
I have wondered about youWhere will you be when this throughIf all goes as planned Will you redeem my life again?
...
And I need you to recoverBecause I can't make it on my own-----
The rest of ME6, you have your choice of playing as the new Spectre or as the recovered Commander Shepard.

First of this, this world be a rock-solid guarantee that none of the player's choices, and far worse, none of the protagonist's actions would matter. We already know the how the Reaper War is going to end no matter what. Heroism being meaningless is by far the biggest problem with the endings, and BioWare is on thin ice in this regard as it is. Hopefully they're smart enough to not make the same mistake twice.
Secondly, I'm certain there would be an immense temptation to bring in some of the old characters somehow. While that might sound good, it's nearly impossible to do without screwing up continuity one way or the other.
Thirldy, it brings up a lot of uncomfortable questions. If this new protagonist is doing something important and is as strong as Shepard, why does Shepard never hear of him or her?

Let's be perfectly honest here. Most of our choices throughout the trilogy didn't matter anyway, so that's nothing new. Secondly if they're going to make a sequel, they're going to have to ignore player choice from the first trilogy. I imagine we'd be looking at a sequel that takes place at least a few centuries ahead of time if this were the case.
If they completely ignored player choice from the first trilogy, it wouldn't be the end of the world. We're talking about a fresh start for the franchise here.

Let's not pretend that other RPGs don't have the exact same issue of choices not doing much.
Yeah but the devs of other RPGs don't spend 5 years telling us how much our choices matter and will greatly effect the outcome of ME3.

Lets throw more money at the rEApers and hope they can fix this mess. Thats a good idea.
Maybe we should have a fanfiction section in here so people can submit their suggestions....of which 99.9% will be better than the end to ME3 and it's destruction of the franchise.

Forget the reapers. They're gone. I don't want to see them or hear of them anymore. I don't want anymore overpowered overhyped invincible enemy that you don't stand a chance against without an ass pull. And please this time have the supporting cast have higher than room temperature IQs.
But with Leviathan, I'm afraid things will get worse ... let's fight underwater morons and mindcontrolled underwater moron minions ...

Hey, what about sharks? Sharks are good enough for Grunt. Aren't sharks good enough for you?
Why aren't sharks good enough for you?
