Often in these sorts of games you only get Option A and Option B.

I really hope that every single decision has at least 4 different options and outcomes.

Say a companion character turns on you, you can either try to keep them on your side (the heroic option), kill them (the hardline option), knock them out and leave them (the batman option), or intimidate them (the other batman option).

This would be awesome, rather then the simple DIE or LIVE simplicity.

That way, later in the game, letting them live could have a consequence that killing them, or keeping them onside could avoid.

I love stuff like that!

I like "Charm" as an option for sarcastic/charming personality. Maybe if it's dominant, you get an edge in persuade?

The more options the better, generally speaking. I would rather have 2 badass fleshed out paths then 4 weaker ones though.

Seriously, can't you do similar things in origins, like when Sten tries to take over in Haven?
If so, yes. I like options even if I never use them. Making the game complex is a good thing- to a point.

The Batman Option!
:-D

Yeah, generally I like at least three options too, at least for larger decisions. Just resolve most of the outcomes in the same game, except alive/dead type things. Most of the nuanced stuff I'd like to dovetail back and effect the same playthrough, and leave the simple either/or's for import stuff. ;-)

yes, this would be great (maybe not we should not always have the moral option though (meaning that sometimes maybe letting someone of scot free should not be available (like the betraying companion mentioned) you should IMHO get these options here: duel them (honorable, because he/she has a chance then), kill them (like a kniving interrupt in ME2 and 3) directly, knock them out and put them on trial (honorable as well)...punish them another way (cutting of someones hand etc.))

but yes, generally i like varied options (like say, bribing someone or seducing someone, using blackmail, threaten, killing etc. - as varied as possible IMHO)

greetings LAX

That's not punting a kitten through a window, that's firebombing the damn pet store.

Here's one of my problems. With two choices in each path, you pretty much know what you're getting when you click an option. The more options there are, the more room for confusion there is.

Who here has clicked an option based on the 1-2 words of description you got...and then watched your character go on to do something totally different from what you thought you were clicking?

When there's "good decision" and "evil decision" or whatever the game calls it, it's easy to know what you're getting.

I'm always in favour of more Batman options (or more good options in general).

Like the idea of having more options when it comes to dealing with enemies, maybe using a system like Mount and blade, use blunt weapons to increase the chances of KOing and enemy instead of killing them, the ransom them back or sell them into slavery

I think that in a fantasy universe, killing people is pretty much a giveaway. You can be a Saint but in a world with a Medieval kind of life two people fighting for something with swords and blades will rarely end up witout a dead body.

That being said, using Charme or Diplomacy to get through some kind of situation is extremely fun and Gaider already confirmed the presence of something like that in DA3.

The lack of a persuade skill was one of my least favorite parts of DA2. If it comes back, I'll be very happy indeed. I'll be a little less pleased with a ME2 style method, but it'll still be a vast improvement. :)
