 Having experimented extensively with both, the BW seems better in every respect. True, it is a UR but the Claymore holds its own against many URs. I think the Widow could use yet another damage buff. Something. It is certainly NOT the Claymore of snipers. Anyway, I am done trying it; the BW is better in virtually every regard.

Nostalgia? Ever since the back to back Black Widow buffs made the damage gap smaller, there's little reason to use the Widow if you have the BW at a similar level unless it's playing style etc.

Since the buffs, the damage gap between a low level Javelin and high level Widow is much smaller as well.

Black Widow is just a gun. You feel more BOSS when using the vanilla Widow.

Widow is perfectly viable for Gold. It's just that Black Widow has pretty good damage and allows more room for error, what with the 3 shot clip.

Widow is quite a bit lighter, even when they're both at X ... not that that makes a huge difference on most classes where you'd want to use a sniper rifle.

Black Widow never gets me that feeling of headshotting a Phantom from full barrier and health that the Widow gives me. So preference mainly.

Fun or for the challange. people on here go on about certain weps remove the challange from the game and make it easier. i say challange yourself to do better with a certain wep and who cares what others are using

I'm not a big fan of either, but the Widow is definitely far worse to use if you want a powerful sniper.

Only reason I use it is for challenges.

It is. You get the Widow. You use it. You like it. You get the Black Widow. You use it. You like it even more. Can´t see anything wrong here. Haven´t used the avenger or katana in ages, so it holds true to all the weapons.

I use both and score about the same regardless of which one I choose, but I only have a BW III. I prefer the Widow because auto-aim (which I'd like to assure PC players is more a hindrance than a help) and low controller sensitivity makes lining up headshots more trouble than it's worth. I guess the Javelin's a superior "body shot" sniper rifle, but the delayed-firing mechanic is another thing I can't be bothered with.

Widow's a solid gun that's easy to upgrade and easy to use.

The Widow has a good'ol bolt action sniper rifle feel to me.. and depending on the kit I generally prefer how the Widow feel over BW... but i agree BW is virtually better in all aspects (W is still a very Solid gun)... All mooks can be one shotted by both in gold... so the damage advantage of the widow is somewhat irrelevant... and even vs bosses i find the BW kills faster than Widow...

Sea, a BWX one shots phantopms for sure. Ane even on 1 it can and will one shot troopers. The BW is superier to the widow. And if you only count for one shot rifles, then the javelin is still better. Weight isn´t an argument when it comes to sniper rifles in most cases, because then you´d be better of with an Indra or Valiant.

Just my 5 cents.

Uhm, they weigh the same.

Weigh the same at X.  Most likely, most people will have the Widox at X while BW not at X.  Then again weight really doesn't matter for most classes that are using either of the guns
