It really depends on what level you have your BW at. At level 1 the BW is not as good as the level x widow, but around level 4 it's about the same or slightly better. If you have them both at level X then their isn't really a question that the BW is better.

BW is an ultra-rare. Widow is a rare.

I frickin' hope the BW is always to be taken over the Widow, unless by personal idiosyncrasy.

IT's different to play a one shot SR and a 3 shot one, that's reason enough for me.

I'm taking advantage of the challenge system, and using it as a rule to keep me playing with different weapons, variety weapons and chars is what keep this game alive. So I never play a weapon which challenge is already full ^^ It's being fun so far...

The only reasons I can think of is the fact that you can one shot a Pyro with the Widow and you can't with the Black Widow, and The Widow has better innate penetration so it can wall bang a little better. Since the buffs, the BW is probably the best weapon in the game, but the Widow is still fantastic.

Widow has an advantage of 1 strong shot, if you can reload cancle just right that enhanced shot can be detramental to allot of foes, and with phasic rounds it becomes quite a showstoper, other than that BW can surpass it but thats usual of "URs" shoudn't it?

Also, I loved the Widow in ME2 which makes me sometimes want to play with it in ME3.

I'm used to the cloak-ED-shoot cycle of the Widow and thus prefer it to the BW. Objectively, the BW is a better gun, as an UR should be.

I love single shot/bolt action rifles.

Objectively though, nope, not really. BW has higher DPS, more damage per clip and capacity. There's just no contest.

Uhm the Widow has better innate penetration. Widow 50cm> BW>25cm.

I'm doing the Widow challenge at this moment, not a bad gun at all, and deals decent damage. I even managed to get a number 1 spot with it on Gold/Cerberus/Godess (with 20K more than number 2), even though I never use the gun. Oh and it wasn't even a bad PUG, one of the contenders was my country's N7 number 3, challenge points number 7...

But I DO prefer my Black Widow X/Javelin X over it, it's just that I required it for the challenge.

How does one "reload cancel?"  I've read a lot about it on here.  I am familiar with cancelling per se as I've played some fighting games...

There's no need to buff the widow. People have been complaining for a long time that the UR weapons were barely better if not sometimes worse than the Rares ones. Now that this is fixed for most of them at least, buffing rares that don't need it at all just to "catch up" would be the stupidest idea ever. We would be back to the starting point.

Not all guns were created equal, and that's ok. The widow is fine as it is, prefectly viable on all difficulties. If you just want to power through the game, take the BW and a GI. But seeing how you use a variety of classes, one would think you understand the appeal of choice when it comes to weapons too, not just taking the best. 

Besides if the widow gets a damage buff you'll just make an "Is there any reason to ever take the Javelin over the Widow?" thread next week.:innocent:

Well, I prefer single shot sniper rifles, mainly with infiltrators. There is a certain thrill I get seeing a mob rushing me, with me having just a Widow in hand. And somehow I like the way the Widow feels in my hands, a sensation that I only get using a Claymore. Hard to explain it, really. Lately I've been trying the Javelin, and, the more I try it, the more I'm liking it.

It's mainly preference, I guess. Someday, if I end up using my BW more, I might enjoy it more. I don't know. If you're advocating a damage buff to the Widow, I'll be for it. Anything to increase the damage of the high-risk-high-reward type guns.

I like the widow because it's fun to use. Personally I get satisfaction and pleasure when playing with one shot snipers since they push me to better my aim

No kidding.  Some people I game with I can't choose a loadout for the kicks and giggles of it without hearing about how abominable my guns are.  Sometimes it's fun to use something other than the best stuff out there.  Maybe if people did that they'd request more guns get buffed instead of nerfing the good ones into unusability.

This. I personally would say claymore is too strong for a rare, not the Widow is too weak.
