Is there any reason to ever take the Widow over the Black Widow?

Widow also meshes better with the cooldowns of some powers.
If what you REALLY meant to ask was, "Is there any reason for an Infiltrator to take Widow over Black Widow?' then the answer would be no, since Infiltrators don't really care about the weight and can bodyshot enemies with a BW.

It's a hell of a lot easier to get a Widow X than a BW X, and Widow X weighs much less than low level BW.

Infiltrators care about weight imo.

The real question should be...Valiant or BW?
Seeing as how my Valiant is I and my BW X, that is no question for me.

I have a BW I and a Valiant IV. Its a tough call.
Valiant is more than capable of holding its own on Plat www.youtube.com/watch (yes, its a PUG, bad time, blah blah)

I don't doubt that but having it at I, I would rather take the Viper X tbh.

I've been trying the Viper for the challenge. Its the definition of meh. It simply doesn't hit hard enough, making moving targets a pain to kill.

BioWare -> Lets make our in-game tips lie and "balance" them all to be as good as one another
Community -> What the hell? BioWare this is dumb!

I've got a Valiant VI and a BW VII
I use the BW if I've drunk my coffee and can actually hit things
and the Valiant if I haven't (its the worlds most forgiving SR)
I think even a Val at X should be out damaged by a mid - high level BW
(think there was another thread about it)

I'm jealous if your Valiants at I have you got a monster hurricane or crusader hidden in your cupboard?
( I have strange love for the Crusader)

No, I have a strange low level mixture of everything, mostly IIIs and IIs...bleh.

I suppose it meshes better with Adrenaline Rush than the Black Widow. And if you need a heavy single shot sniper, it's easier to mod up a Widow without getting the ludicrous cooldowns you do with the Javelin.

Hmm. Here's a thought. How about reducing the hip fire penalty for the Widow? By the way, what's that penatly for the BW and Widow, and even the Javelin?EvanKester wrote...
Even if you ignore the Black Widow >>> Widow problem, (which, OK, we can deal with that)... the Widow should be as good as the Claymore. They're the same rarity, and they both mesh with some of the same builds.

Having experimented extensively with both, the BW seems better in every respect. True, it is a UR but the Claymore holds its own against many URs. I think the Widow could use yet another damage buff. Something. It is certainly NOT the Claymore of snipers. Anyway, I am done trying it; the BW is better in virtually every regard.
I agree, although I'm afraid I have not experimented extensively. Only experimented.

Well you don't want to be -200%, but anything higher than 50% is fine IMO.

Kishock has no penalty, Raptor and Viper 15%, Krysae and CSR 25%, Mantis a whopping 65%. Everything else is 50%.

The only possible reason I can see why you would ask such a question is if BW was I and Valiant X. In any other case, there's no real question to me :innocent:

On an Infiltrator, BW hands down. It does a crapton more damage per cloak cycle. With other classes it's a lot closer though and the Valiant has a relatively large edge in weight.

Really? No recoil, super fast reloads. Good damage (not as high as BW, but not bad).
I have a BW I and a Valiant IV. I find them about on par on Plat.

First reason is weight, but I just love to play with regular Widow.
Second reason is recoil. If I equip Black Widow without Stabilization Module III, it kicks like a mule.
On the other hand, Black Widow is my primary/secondary weapon on Geth Infiltrator.
Javelin is my first choice but I roll with Black Widow also.

Indeed.
Missing with a Javelin or Widow is like learning your puppy just died.
Missing with BW feels like a punch in the gut.
Missing with Valiant? Meh, who cares?

Another thing is the level disparity. I still wouldn't have a BW in MP if it wasn't for the kindness of the N7 day pack so BW I vs Widow X isn't very clear cut comparison.
