The Jav > Widow < BW

The BW X with Phasic rounds can oneshot pretty much every non-boss unit in the game (Infiltrators on gold+), it's a lot better than the Widow. The BW vs the Jav is a more difficult question though.

They only weight the same when at the same level. For most players this simply isnt the case.

Once a Player Master the Javelin, then it's a Weapon of Destruction. .......I'm becoming better at Wielding the Javelin. I just wish that "delay" shot wasn't implemented. But man! It's probably the most Powerful Sniper Rifle of them all (as of yet)

I find the delay on the javelin tedious and a hindrance to my ability to get heatshots.

I dislike the RoF on the BW.  This might be a carry over from single player where it's magnified by the infiltrator stability mod combination.

I love love love to put the widow on my human engineer.  60% Cooldown + PEM-III gives me a very synergistic shoot/overload/powercombo cycle with priming ammo types.  Even though my Javelin is at X, the weight is problematic.  I prefer it on my GE instead.

I pick Widow over black widow. Why? Because with phasic rounds, it can kill every non boss unit with a single hit. It is a much more unforgiving weapon than the black widow, but the results are very satisfying if you succeed.

I was talking about this with a friend a week ago, the Widow right now is in a incredibly awkward position. The Javelin does so much more damage over it that the Widow's advantages (lower weight and instant shot without delay) just don't seem worth it at all, while the Black Widow is now so close in damage per shot, that it just feels like you're gimping yourself by taking the Widow.

IMO, what the Widow could use right now is a weight reduction, not a damage buff, just make it lighter than the Black Widow. While that won't make it more appealing to Infiltrators, it would make it more appealing to non-Infiltrators, which is a good thing imo, most sniper rifles aren't very enticing for one reason or another to non-Infiltrators.

It would actually be perfect anywhere in the 1.4-1.8 weight range. If that little bit of extra weight made more room for an SMG even, it would be perfect.

1.4 weight is far too low for the Widow. A weight change would be an interesting buff though, so it doesn't encroach on the Javelin's territory.

Sniper is about one-shot-kill tactic, or kill things using the least number of shots. In this regard, the Widow is better.

I'm not complaining about ultra rares being better. The claymore has it's drawbacks too when it's compared to ultra rares of the same level. It's still a heavy gun with only one shot that can be difficult to reload cancel with most classes on consoles, so it's not that great.

I have a feeling from the posts I'm reading that some people are comparing their Black Widow I to a Widow X. Once you get the Black Widow to a high level, there is never a reason to use the Widow.

I use the Widow on Gold because the Black Widow is overkill (hence, Widow is more 'sporting')... I'm sure Stardusk can appreciate that line of thought.

If I can't do body shots on silver, it's not useful to me.
