Would Microsoft have been a better publisher for ME3 than EA?

Judging by the commercial success, fan reception, and critical acclaim of Halo 4, Microsoft has a somewhat good record.

While some great Bioware games were published by EA (DAO and ME2) they began before the EA takeover. If anyone here is familiar with mergers and acquisitions it also takes a few years for cultural and management change to cement itself. More recent games like ME3 are a better barometer of EA's management and sales philosophy. While games like KoToR, Jade Empire, and ME1, give us an idea of what a Microsoft published ME3 might have been. With that said how do you feel?

You don't even need to look at Halo 4. Just look at Bioware's games when Microsoft was their publisher. That should tell you.

Hell!
Freaking!
No!

Just based on fact that there would be no PC nor PS3 version.
EA is the one that founded PC port of ME1 and PS3 ports of ME2 and now ME1

Plain and simple -> YES.

In fact, Microsoft should have bought BW, not EA. Both MS and BW would have ended winning.

If I want to play Uncharted, I need a PS3. If I want to play Diablo III, I Need a PC.

BW + MS games >>>>>>>> (infinite) >>>>>>>> BW + EA games.

That's hard to believe. Every other Microsoft published Bioware game eventually made it's way to PC.

Ps3 and Wii would lose out but who cares? ME was originally suppose to be a xbox/PC type exclusive.

Yes. While I haven't played Halo 4, what Microsoft and 343 have done with this IP has been amazing. I loved the "Forward Unto Dawn" series. Had Microsoft been smart and either purchased the ME IP, or acquired BioWare, I can only dream what could've been; for instance...would the Primary 2 have had so much of an influence on the ending of ME3? No way to know but great speculation topic. I'm not so much concerned about other platforms...I'm Xbox at heart but I'm not screaming about Uncharted coming to the 360 platform. ha.

Didnt they publish ME1? no coincidence it's the best of the series, and as soon as EA get involved the dumbing down of the series begins......Halo is just plain awesome and has been handled perfectly in my opinion....

That is possibly the most stupid post I've seen in this forum. And I've seen a lot of stupid posts here.

And I don't even have a PS3.

Agreed. Consoleboys may like their outdated wormboxes, but I generally prefer playing on high-end systems.

OP, the answer to your question is undoubtedly "Absolutely". Microsoft not only gives their best first party developers all the funding they need....they also give them all the "Time" they need. (besides Halo 2....but they've long since learned their lesson)

Quite, Mass effect was not made for the PS3 it was made for the Xbox 360.
I guess you could argue the reason Mass effect 3 is bad is because it was not an exclusive.

If the game they made under Microsoft were similar to KotOR or Jade Empire in quality, yes, it would have been better.

If the game they made were more similar to Mass Effect 1 in quality, I would have refused to continue the series. Along with Baldur's Gate 1 and Neverwinter Nights, I consider ME1 Bioware's worst product.

The only thing you can almost-concretely claim is that Microsoft would've likely allowed for another six months to a year of development for polishing purposes, so, yeah, they probably would've been better from a content standpoint. But that's pure speculation, and ME3 could've ended up in the exact same place story-wise.

Yes: and when a software mega-giant which has been the center of a good number of paranoid conspiracy theories is a better fit than Electronic Arts, the world is truly a strange place.

Not ME3 story or campaign related. And there really is no way to know, since we don't have time machines or any kind of visibility into alternate realities.

End of line.
