I enjoyed the NWN2 Crossroad Keep quests where you adjudicate for your vassals. Or decide whether to send some of your soldiers out to hunt some evil orc thats terrorizing a village. Similiar stuff in DAA was good too.

I'd want to say "well that's dumb! i'm all about (or aboot for the canadians) stabbing fools in da face yo!"

But then i remember i spent hours running around way of the samurai 4 and getting paid by townsfolk to deliver letters, mail, love letters, secret documents, break their rivals belongings, feed their pets, tell children to stop kicking the homeless factions, convince people's wives to reconcile with their husbands, discover secret passwords threw dialouge options, stop a food poisoning epidemic, talk down crazy people without just cutting their heads off, help gang members find legitimate jobs and so fortth all without injuring anyone and all quick & fun

I'm all in for non-violent quests. But if it's the "I found this thing on the floor and I know exactly who it belongs to" I'd rather pass.
