Played a "legit" platinum match with an N7 72 (Human Adept), along with two other randoms. He did well and it was an extraction. Only found out after the match was over and saw him in the lobby (he came in at second wave). I've never judged based on N7 and this is just one of the guys that proved me right.

I have only attempted one Platinum match and it was a wave eight wipe. It was the first platinum match for all four of us so we really weren't sure how to prepare. We all equipped great equipment with an over all decent weapon set-up on each player. I can't imagine fighting on there with only the basic weapons. Image IPB Definitely some major props to that guy!

I'm roughly a little under the three thousand mark with a little over three hundred hours. I have been playing since launch and I used to play exclusively the gold and then platinum matches once they came out. This is an inspiring story of those that are a high n7 Rank and do their jobs. I've been in a few matches with those with the 10K mark and I far exceed them in points by the end of the match. While on the other hand I have a friend who only has 300 n7 Rank, but over 800 hrs of play. Some people choose to promote their characters, others don't, she plays all the time, but doesn't want to promote her characters. She maxes out in most matches, so while again, this is a good story but n7 either means you play a lot or you glitch. It does not entitle skill.

TL,DR comes to mind lol

anyway i got somewhat through it. N7 means nothing and the people iv'e played with that were N7 of that high have been average to below average players. It seems the bets players are usually in the 1k-3k range with a few exception os people with low N7 form not promoting.

Manifests mean nothing too as i seen a guy with a harier X and N7 of like 80 sucks balls. I'm assuming he spend alot of real money on packs

Thanks for the read.

Having team mates who know what they're doing is a real game changer. Even platinum is very doable with four decent players sticking together doing what they should be doing. And talking to eachother is not only clever, it's fun.

Either you have a photographic memory or you took notes during the matches.

Shure. And I had all this translate to german.
Had an similar experience with Red_Johns Friends. Using him as an anchor i got in his lobby (I participated at his friends-list experiment) and could play two games with them. Went better then the usual bad silver-pugs, that I have to carry. My experiments with gold went really bad, mostly. I just have to look at the scoreboard. If I´m at top by wave 3 we usually wipe around wave 8.
But with a real team gold is a walk in the park. Hope I can do this again. Sadly he lives at the other side of the globe (i think so?)

Good to hear you enjoyed it OP.

My N7 isn't that high, but I'm open to coaching inexperienced players through Gold. I would do it more often if anyone actually frickin talked on PC.

TL;DR -- I played Gold with a few blokes who had super high N7 and super high challenge points and it felt easy!

Enjoyed the post. Good well written story. The main point I get is that spawn management and team synergy seems the main difference moving to gold. Bronze and often silver can be such a race to get to the enemies that players learn those rambo habits to compete on score.

I read the OP, sounded like a good fun evening and some great learning experiences :)

Glad you've found yourself a good group to run with, just remember with all the experience you're picking up to "pay it back" and help pull some newer players up behind you ;)

Doubt I'll hit gold level matches any time soon myself. Don't get me wrong I love pugging (and kind of have to, as my friends list is essentially non-existent anyway) and you can meet and join in with some awesome groups that just work... but I'm just not confident enough yet to feel like I could contribute to a gold pug properly, or provide the boost needed to help a struggling team through to extraction...

Thanks for the read!

Thanks for taking the time to right the post. I also enjoy good coop games on gold and platinum. If you play platinum, I would love to join you. My GT: eagles316kid

Indeed. I am going to attempt to solo Reapers, Unknown, Platinum after I get off of work with either my Turian Sentinel, or my Asari Vanguard for practice. After seeing Bino's performance yeterday with the  Drell Vanguard, I may also try him since he can This will force me to use cover much more frequently which I really need to do anyway at least I won't have any choice if there is any remote chance of survival. I'm not really expecting to make it all the way to extraction, but I'm going to give it my best shot using the least amount of packs and missles as possible. Solo-ing Gold wasn't too bad; however Platinum is a completely different animal. Just have to keep moving, stay in cover, kite the enemy, and be smart about each movement. Hopefully it will show up on my manifest as completed later this evening. If by some strange stoke of luck I complete it I will post final results on here. Also, I am going to start to wean myself off of amps and mods and make me a better player. The gear slot itself I wont change, only consumables. It should be intersting needless to say.

Dat shirt. Image IPB Nah, in all seriousness there's a lot I can learn from You, Scarab, One True Shot and the others. I never thought anyone could run a Platinum match with a level 5 and place in points with 160,000+ points like Scarab. Does that sound about like what it was? You were destroying as well. I think you ended up with easy 180,000+ on Benning against the Collectors. The highest score I have had was around 102,000 in a Pug. Granted my Solo points were higher but that was because I was the only one on the board dealing damage against the wave budget. I mean, that is by no means bad, but I'm nowhere as consistant guys even class to class and character to character. That's where i need practice the most.
