No, it just makes his role in ME3 all the more depressing. He *was* a good character. Then deception and ME3 ruined him.

I thought that Harbinger's portayal and it's relation to Shepard was lame as well, although probably not to this level of lameness.  Kai Lame in ME3 is the epitome of lame.

I thought the whole premise of having a space ninja who trolls around Shepard was lame..

Actually, it makes it worse; seeing that he was actually kinda badass when he was written by an competent writer (aka: Drew Karpyshyn)

What? You're not seriously going to say that he was a good, well developed, solid villain are you???

I haven't read Deception or any of the books for that matter. I heard that they were alright, with Deception just being flat out terrible. But the whole Kai Leng Cereal thing was definitely one of the funniest things i've ever heard.

As a minor antagonist who shows up a few times through out the game. Yeah, I personally think he does fine. Although that email should of definetly been left out.

What exactly classifies as minor?

Killing a former squadmate? (Possibly former LI)

The chance of Killing ANOTHER former squadmate? (Also another possible LI)

Being the only person in ME to outright kick Shepards ass through ridiculous layers of plot armor?

Being the ONLY Boss fight in ME3 period?

These three (Possibly four) things alone kinda put him on the level of the Witch King to Sauron as far as importance goes.

If minor just means time frames in which he shows up...well **** every villain is minor considering most of the screentime is given to...oh I don't know...the protagonist maybe?

I think they accurately represented the character as he appeared in Mass Effect: Deception - as Cereal Killer Kai Leng.

Because Kai Leng is the brainchild of Drew Karpyshyn..& EAware got him dumped on another project..& when you try to take over the idea of another author & improve on it..It goes wrong most of the time...

If they had taken away his sword and made him a modern hitman like Agent 47 (who also benefits from keeping his mouth shut when a conversation is not needed) and not turned him into a blatant Phantom clone in a bad attempt to copy this game's main character, then I think he would have been a tad more respectable.

The problem is that he needs to be intimidating. Shepard has killed hundreds of people armed with guns. Guns are not intimidating. A sword is.

It's intimidating because it's an unknown factor. Because Shepard has plenty of experience fighting enemies with swords and none with guns. Because an enemies who is able to fight with a sword and survive is going to be good with it.

And as people have doubtless pointed out, soldiers in Mass Effect have barriers that Indiana Jones didn't...

Yes, Kai Leng could have been handled better. But giving him a gun solves less than nothing.
