In here we will post the ideal party members we would like this time around. It doesn't have to match the gathered info provided by the devs. Just say what you would like. x)
A Tal-Vashoth(Female if possible). For interesting discussions and interactions with the Qunari. Could be of a warrior or even better, mage class to reinforce the fact that she's against the Qun. (Sure lots of people already asked about this but, here it is anyway)
A Grey Warden. If possible one close to the Call, to spice things up.. Could be our link to the Wardens and provides some discussions concerning DAO's PC. If they are alive, he/she could know the Ferelden Warden/Alistair/Anders. If dead, could provide some informations concerning the events in Ferelden/Kirkwall. Would be nice to get either Bethany/Carver also.
A Tevinter Magister. Given the name of the game and the events in DA2 the chantry will be implicated. Could lead to some interesting moral choices and stuff.
A Neverran character for more information about state(and some dragons ofc) Hell, just bring Cassandra. Will add a Chantry agent to the lot.
To that i would add few previous companions such as Anders/Nathaniel(if alive and No Grey Warden), Leliana(if no Cass) and good ol' Oghren.(Just bring him already !)
What's yours ?
What kind of party members would you like ?

I hope the DA2 party members get the same treatment as the ME2 one's did.
(Except the two-game party members, Anders and Merril)
Also google it before you say Merril wasn't a companion in DAO

A fierce Tal-Vashoth mercenary companion who has nothing but scorn for the Qun and its followers. Bring on the Anti-Sten.
Besides the Tal Vashoth are one aspect of the Qunari that could use a lot more exploration in the lore, and the best avenue for exploring that would be through a companion. It would be interesting to see another side of them beyond just NPCs you kill on missions.

1. Party Members who can talk anywhere and anytime when they're not fighting and questing.
2. Party members who are not constantly whining about things that I already know such as mages are sucked or templars are evils bla bla and all that boring stuffs. Instead, they should start fresh idea worth for discussion such as how to tame a desire demon into romance-able and faithful companion or how to fast travel with proper transportation instead of clicking on the map.
3. Party members who will not abandon my protagonist to be the agent of religious order or whatever in the next sequel.
4. Party Members who can talk about themselves, their past, favorites, jokes, aspiration etc.. and not about constant boring belief system.
5. Party members who will shut up and listen to my PC and willingly to do my PC personal quest instead of theirs.
6. Party members who can die and can not be retcon-ed in the next sequel.
7. Party members who can insult other NPCs and make them cry.
8. Party members who can be married and settle down like most average women do,
9.. Party members who will not show up in the next sequel without my playable former character.
10. Party members who is idealist engineer, constructor, inventor and manipulator, capable to find a way to bypass all missions and useless paraphrased dialogues to complete the game instantly.

I don't know if I want Cassandra or Leliana. I like both and more or less equally interested. Only Leliana has already been a companion, but it would be nice to hear what she's been up to, if her views have changed since the Blight. And call me crazy, but I don't think she was crazy when she had that vision and I think the so called "retcon" has bigger implications, (like maybe being some sort of incarnation of some religious icon with whom she shares many similarites but will remain nameless for her own protection).

I want Cole but if we're being vague...
I'd love a tevinter magister, I'd also like a (formerly) high ranking Tal-Vashoth, or even better a saarebas. I'd also like a dark and broody character that only reveals what is plaguing them grudgingly and only after some trust building exercises. Not like Fenris and Anders since they both spilled their woes on onset. Think Bishop from NWN2 (yesiknowthatisnotabiowaregameimjustusingitasanexample).

I would like to have a companion from one of the nations we haven't seen much of.
So like the Anderfells, Tevinter Imperium, or Rivain.

Party members that don't have their heads up their own asses. Even Wynne, who would be quite preachy and always have a lecture ready still had a sense of humour. Fenris for example however just pissed me off. I get it, you don't like mages, it's been years now, shut up and crack a joke about elves or something.
That's why I always loved having Zevran and Oghren around.

An elf.
Not a moody elf boy but a sexy elf with a sense of humor. Like Zevran
Okay.. I romanced any type of elf that's in the party >.<
A good two-shoe blood mage sounds great as well

A Bethany like character, but not as a sibling.

While it was a nice change to have a sibling companion in DA2, I sort of want to see that type of close relationship played out between two companions instead of the protagonist and a companion. It doesn't have to be a familial relationship,it could be two really good friends, lovers, even bitter rivals...just some relationship where it feels like the companions themselves have a history with one another. I have hopes that that is what we'll be seeing with the two Tevinter looking characters in the leaked concept art.

Sadly it has already been confirmed that they are going with the DA2 model.

I would like to see companions more specialized actually. As in having two or three specialization skill trees rather than just one. This way you could have companions that you can tweak a bit to your playstyle rather than just sort of being stuck with small range of unique skills.
For example: A blood mage with a demon summoning tree, a mind controlling tree, and a blood empowerment tree. That way we can utilize them in a different manner is subsequent playthroughs.
As for archetypes.... I am not sure. Bioware has been amazing at creating characters so I am not too worried they will come up with an interesting and unique set of personalities.

Here's my top ten for DA 3 or future Dragon Age games. Gender and/or Race is not important unless otherwise stated.
=romanceable
1. A ****** of a Templar I can have pro-Chantry player characters sympathize with and anti-Chantry player characters can antagonize and form a nice healthy rivalry with (assuming the Friendship/ Rivalry System makes a come back). Admittedly I'd probably end up doing the latter rather than the former. I've played very, very few overtly pro-Chantry or pro-Templar Wardens or Hawkes.
2. A mabari warhound (maybe a female one this time) who is not particularly good-natured, just to be different!
3. An aging Grey Warden who wasn't brave enough to face death in the Deep Roads and so has run away from the order. Male human.
4. A Tevinter Mage Spirit Healer. Because Tevinter mages have been traditionally depicted as always chaotic evil, it would be nice to have one who isn't. She is a good person with a kind heart but sees slavery as part of the natural order of things. Female elf.
5. A Tal Vashoth female (Kossith a.k.a. horned Qunari) mercenary.
, but only through rivalvry.
6. A female surface dwarf knight, raised under the sky, curious about her heritage, but culturally more human than not.
7. A male golem found by an sculptor and given a more classically attractive body. He is bitter about this.
8. A deeply conflicted Inquisitor blood mage who uses forbidden magical talents to torture prisoners.
9. A young human rogue woman from the Anderfels whose Grandmother was a Grey Warden at Weisshaupt.
10. An Awakened Hurlock warrior. The rogue from the Anderfels would be curious about it while the aging Grey Warden would mistrust it and treat it with disdain.
