Initially, I misread your username and wondered if you had surpassed the Duggars. Apologies.Mummy22kids wrote...
They have parties. Big elaborate parties with Orlesian cheese and various meats from the Anderfells.
More importantly, I love your idea, if only because the ham tastes of despair. It might keep the cheese from getting out of hand.
On a more serious note, the Warden's interest in the Primeval Thaig makes me think that they are interested in the red lyrium found there. Perhaps there is a link to it and the Taint. Their ultimate mission is the elimination of Blights - making them utterly impossible - so if the red lyrium is the source of corruption, not the magister invasion of the Golden City, their job might not yet be over. There are only seven Old Gods, but who knows how much red lyrium is out there?

I don't know if I think red lyrium is related to the taint. After all there were no darkspawn in that thaigh. Instead there was demons and creepy living rocks. And let's not forget demons possessing living rocks. Even when we went back the Darkspawn did appear in the thaigh itself. (And then the lyrium was removed)
I think the Grey Warden's were after the Thaigh for two reasons:
1. The Deep Roads, which are sort of Grey Warden's terretori. They would be curious about it.
2. Power. As much as the Grey Warden claims to be in political we know it is not true in Andersfeld, and now also Fereldan. The Grey Wardens are slowly gaining more political cloth, which is not necessarily a good thing. They have shown to be interested in anything bringing them power.

You can't have too many Prussias!
But yes, Nevarra is based on Prussia.

That isn't exactly true.
While officially the Grey Wardens are supposed to remain detached from local politics, in practice that isn't always the case. There are examples in the game where we see Grey Wardens breaking this rule.
The first is the Anderfels, where we are told that the monarchy is weak and that the locals look to the Grey Wardens for leadership. Riordan notes that the Ander Wardens are a different breed, and seem to enjoy the political power and influence they have there.
The second is Ferelden, where after the darkspawn are defeated it potentially has a Grey Warden crowned as king and another Warden as the kingdon's Chancellor, and a fiefdom within the kingdom (Aramanthine) that is ruled over by the Grey Wardens. Delving back into Ferelden's history, Sophia Dryden's rebellion against the monarchy is another example of Wardens getting entangled in local politics.
Also the Grand Enchanter Fiona used to be a Grey Warden, she vacilitated the official separation of mages from the Chantry. So lets see, we had Sophia Dryden who meddled in politics, if you played a certain way you could have a king AND queen Grey Warden in Ferelden and quite regardless of that Amaranthine is completely under Warden control, the Anderfels is basically under Warden control and a former Grey Warden sparked the Mage-Templar war which is gonna have an astronomical body count in the end.
The Wardens might as well rewrite their rules and say "If the political position offers you the ability to mess with stuff on a global scale you need to get on that ****!" XD
They don't get involved in politics because it hasn't worked out for them in the past. Sophia Dryden is a reason for them not to get involved because it resulted in the Grey Wardens being exiled from Fereldan for a long time. The other Wardens even felt she disgraced them because she got involved in politics.
And the Grey Wardens have political power in the Anderfels because their King is weak so the people rely on them for leadership, (according to Riordan, could be biased but still). Plus, there is a huge concentration of them what with Weisshaupt based there.
Our Wardens got involved with politics in Fereldan because it was necessary. I don't think there is anything you can do in Origins in the way of politics that isn't vital to defeating the Blight as that is the aim, not siezing power for the Wardens, (however you want to role play that). Alistair is the son of a King who happens to also be a Grey Warden.
Finally, Fiona, as you said LEFT. She used to be a Grey Warden. Emphasis on the "used to". That's why it's okay for her to bring the world to the brink of collapse.

It doesn't really matter if the Grey Wardens got involved to save Ferelden. They did and ended up with a lot of influance. This created a precedent. In the Awakening it's said that the First Warden is very interested in a whole situation and if the Wardens are sucessful in running the arling, he'll press for more political power for the Order.
For someone who would like to attack the Wardens because of actions of Fiona, Anders and possibly Alistair it wouldn't matter that they aren't Grey Wardens anymore. I believe some may speak against them, mostly because if Anders wasn't recruited then situation in Kirkwall would end up differently.
I think that after the last Blight the Order will survive in some form. Even without the Archdeamon the darksprawn are still a great thread. It's also unlickely that a group of warriors who spend their whole life fighting will just settle down and put their swords aside. Most will be assimilated into their country's military or become mercenaries
I hope they will give you a possibilty to go to Anderfels and see for yourself. They sound like the most badass country, beside Ferelden. And the Grey Wardens have political power in the Anderfels because their King is weak so the people rely on them for leadership, (according to Riordan, could be biased but still). Plus, there is a huge concentration of them what with Weisshaupt based there.

Otherwise they'd probably disband. No darkspawn means no taint to take into themselves which means no Wardens.

Without the call of the old gods the remaining darkspawn would be free to do as they please and going up to the surface and killing would probably be the only thing they would think to do.
This would make a great problem to solve over the course of the game and I believe that Justice brought it up in Awekening that helping the Architect stop future blights may in fact make things worse in the long run.

What did the dream version of Duncan say in Origins?
"The Grey Wardens shall be keepers of history. We shall tell tales and sing songs of a more tumultous time that others may rejoice in knowing that time is spent."
Possible, but I doubt it. They'd be less in demand that way. More likely they'd do what the mod said.
