First, thanks for the necro. Interesting thread I had missed 3 weeks ago.masterbastian wrote...
i have a N7 rating of 418 and
challenge points worth 1755, i unlocked collector general yesterday and i
have already extracted 9 times in Gold....but still some idiot called
"notach" with N7 3533 and CP 13200 and another kicked me out of a gold
lobby for geth....I HATE PEOPLE WHO KICK OTHERS OUT OF LOBBIES....ITS
JUST A GAME!!!! WHAT IF THE GAME HAD ALREADY STARTED AND I JOINED YOUR
GLORIOUS GAME??? WHAT THEN? U CAN"T KICK ME OUT IN-GAME....SO KEEP YOUR
STUPID ELITISM TO YOURSELF....
Second, what was your loadout ? I mean, were you using any consumable/gear ? What kind of weapon ? Which character at what level ?
If you were using a level 3 Asari Adept with a Predator X and no consumable, then maybe there was a reason you were kicked.
Also, people don't know how many times you have extracted from Gold and you might have been carried anyway, so it's kinda irrelevant.
I do it the other way around : first look at gear/loadout, look at weapons, look at challenge points. N7 means ****, just ask Jay_Hoxtatron. Honestly, if someone comes into the lobby fully loaded with a level 20 character but challenge points ~400ish, I won't kick.LoonySpectre wrote...
Look at N7.
If in doubt, look at challenge points.
If still in doubt, look at weapons.
If still in doubt, look at gear.
If still in doubt, you probably doubt too much.

Played some gold games the other day with some people that clearly were in a difficulty above their heads. I had a feeling they would be when I saw their N7 number (less than 100, otherwise it's something I barely pay attention to), and their gear.. or lack thereof. So, I switched to a character I'd better be able to carry them with, and we didn't fail a single match. One or two had mics and I was able to impart some helpful knowledge in the process. We all got credits, we all got XP, and they became better players, I think. Win win.
Like.
I wish I were good enough to know I could carry other players when needed.

This is pretty much exactly how I progressed to gold/platinum. I didn't move up until I knew I was ready so I wouldn't be a huge burden for the other players. The reason I kick noobs from gold/platinum is the mentality. There's no way they are ready (lack of experience, lack of good weapons, no consumables), so unless they got dumped into the lobby by mistake (happens), they're just looking for someone else to provide them with easy credits.Slimjim0725 wrote...

From my experience, if you don't kick him, he'll leave in waves 1-3 after dying few/many times.
But yes. Remember, low N7 people (less than 120) have to LEARN that Gold/Plat and even Silver is not for them yet.
And everyone should just be willing to basically be a player down because of this? Sorry, I have to disagree. I knew going into the game to start in Bronze and see how the game played out. Once I was comfortable and Bronze was too easy I made the jump to Silver (not right to Gold). I stuck in Silver for a while since after getting crushed on Gold with some friends (like a wave 3 wipe) not long after the jump and I didn't want to play Gold again for a while (if you HAVE to learn, do it on your own time). Finally Silver was just way too easy and I knew this when I ended up having to duo it, so I decided to solo Gold and told myself if I didn't make it to at least wave 4 I wasn't ready. I made it to wave 7 (without really knowing how to kite, I used missiles to hold a wave 3 hack circle) and knew I was ready.
The difference? I was already above N7 120, but I still knew my place and had the common courtesy not to be dead weight to a group in Gold. If I am with 2 friends and I know we can handle it anyways in a decent time I will let anyone play at least one game. If I am by myself, I am a little more picky (though not enough honestly) since I have had some terrible experiences with "bad" players and even new players that quit by wave 3 because it was too much for them.

From my experience, people with N7 < 120 are more willing to use consumables and equipment on higher difficulties than people with N7 > 120. With the exception of actually good players that I sometimes run into during pugs. Or maybe I'm just that lucky.
I have had no clear cut way to tell who will use consumables in any PUG I have run. The best indicator I get is usually if they equip anything before the start of the game, but even then it doesn't guarantee that they will. There are plenty of N7 less than 120 that are willing to use it, but they just lack the amount of them they would need to be of any real help while people above N7 120 are typically just greedy and get a big head thinking they can do it without. (that is possible with a good group, not so much with randoms)

at the risk of being called whatever.
lol, hell no.
no one did that for "us" ( people playing since march)
he most likely has the internet and is capable of learning some things on his own.
Progression should be natural - bronze too easy, go to silver. Silver became easy, go to gold. Jumped to gold&plat, I feel free to kick. Maybe, maybe if I'm in a good mood, I'll let them stay.

The only time anyone should be kicked is if that person is a foul mouthed jerk or is lolligagging in the lobby.

Plus, I'm getting tired of this "it's just a game" nonsense. Yes, people play games for fun, while at the same time taking it seriously. Most games have different levels of competition so that everyone may play at their appropriate level. I personally don't have fun playing with a noob on Gold who dies every two seconds.

Yes, it's a game, and I play to have fun. Carrying leechers might be fun to you, but it isn't to me.

On the other hand, i would not kick or votekick anyone from a lobby for being low level. I might say in voicechat that '' were on silver (or gold) ''. My hopes for beating the current match would not be high
Or i might leave if i didnt have too much time to play and look for greener pastures in another lobby.

It's a game people. Only a game. The snobby-ness here is shameful. Kicking anyone, from any match based solely on their scores and load-outs is petty. Just play the game and have fun. If a player dies a lot or is perceived to make mistakes during a match, well, that just changes the dynamic, which requires a strategic adjustment. Adapt, play, have fun.

So the 'fun' of one noob is more important than the fun of three other people?
The kick button is there for a reason.
PS: I never kick unless a friend asks me to.

A logical choice would seem to be to progress from bronze to silver, then to gold and platinum. The difficulties are there for a reason. I never tried gold when i had low level weapons and classes. To dip your toes in the higher difficulties without being prepared is putting a larger than needed strain on the other players.
That's what I did. Played a lot of Bronze, then silver, then Gold. Don't see why I should let a new player leech off of me instead of telling them to go back to their level of difficulty. I'm not obligated to show them how much more difficult Gold is, when they should already know the difficulty is too much for them to handle.

thats bullcrap dude. Im not gonna start platinum with a level 8 soldier using Revenant I with zero gear and equipment. People should play gold/platinum if they have a good character/gear/equipment combo for it. N7 doesnt mean ****. We dont even check it. I also hate to promote my characters, and i know im not alone with that.

On the other hand, if they don't seem ready for business or it's quite obvious that they just want to leech off more experienced players (not using consumables, having a predator one with no mods etc.), I'm going to kick. Simple as that.

There is a bronze, if they don't have time. If they want to play the game how they want, other 3 players in a lobby have the right to kick who they want.
