It's a game people. Only a game. The snobby-ness here is shameful.

Perhaps a bit of snobbyness here and there. But i can fully understand someones wish not to take on a low level player who keeps dying. Not everyone has the time or inclination to help another player. Nobody is obliged to. To state otherwise is to take away peoples freedom regarding the use of their time or the enjoyment of entertainment.

The point is that imo theres not really a good way to (politely) convene ones reasons for (vote)kicking in the lobby. Hence, the message '' you have been kicked '' prob wont feel very nice on the receivers end. A warning message from the game (calculated by their average item/class level, perhaps?) before going on a (too) high difficulty might be interesting?

If I kick low level players, I usually send them a message explaining my decision

Thats actually very kind of you.

I'll kick who I want. That N7 8 shouldn't be a selfish ass, he should start in bronze in the first place, like, as you say, we all did. It's not my job to teach people how to play and it's definitely not my job to carry people.

Yes it is! You have to carry me all the time since I am so busy missiling swarmers.:P

Couple days ago, I had a guy join a gold match at the start of wave 2. I paused to check the scores around wave 6 and was absolutely shocked at how low his score was. I wouldn't have even thought it was possible to score that low. I had picked him up quite a few times, but I didn't really pay any attention to his weapons or anything.

If I recall correctly, we wiped on 9. Get out to the lobby, and he's now a level 7 Human Vanguard. N7 rank...7. It had been his first game ever. He was rocking a Katana and another common weapon, can't remember which one, both of them level 1.

He was totally willing to stay in the lobby. After the other 2 bailed and it was just me and him (I was hosting), I left. Sorry if that makes me a bad person. My main concern wasn't that I'd have to carry him, it was that there was no way anyone else decent would join if they came in and saw him in the lobby.

How about this: I'll kick every person below N7 120 when they join my Gold lobby, so that way they can join yours and you can teach 'em.

Everybody wins!

I really don't mind teaching people some things and if they're nice and listen everything is good. When it comes to platinum though I'm picky when I don't have 1 or 2 friends in the lobby.

Their score couldn't have been any lower than the Volus I had in an U/U/P game at the end of wave 1. They had a grand total of 4 points and they weren't even shield boosting anyone... We still finished the game.:D

If that level 8 N7 8 shows up, dont kick him like an eletist #@$^^.  He will go back to bronze, learn a lot of really bad habits (like not having to take cover and rushing to the extraction zone at the start of the round)  and end up back in gold a few months later with better weapons and still no good experience also feeling like an eletist #$@@#! entiled to kick people.

Rather keep him in the loby.  Tell him he don't seem ready but he's welcome to stay, listen and learn.  Then teach him the basics like how to take cover, not rush off on his own, hold a position, move when needed to, do objectives, VERY IMPORTANT! when to and when not to use consumables and how to do objectives.  After the game he will probably realize he needs to go back to bronze.  He will be gratefull, more friendly, have learned a lot about the game and the whole community will be stronger.

We were all bronze once ... just saying.

Learning the fundamentals that you listed is somehow not possible on Bronze? That's how I learned, back when the multiplayer Demo was released to the public Feb 17th. Can't see why other people can't.

New characters that are joining Gold/Plat games are there strictly for the credits, and don't intend to contribute. Let's put this in retrospect. Let's say you are a man of the Night's Watch, who would you rather have watching your back? A man, or a boy that's greener than grass?

I don't mind lending some helpful tips in Bronze/Silver, but Gold/Plat, you need to know what you're doing, or you are wasting the entire team's time by trying to pick your ass up when you're just gonna flop back down like a Magikarp after 3 seconds.

This. However, at the same time, it depends. I've got goals of my own. Until my manifest is maxed, I'd rather not take any chances with losing out on credits/time. I can carry a team, but I don't like the idea of the game depending on whether I get sync-killed.

The difference is that I was smart enough to stay in bronze until I had the necessary skills and equipment to move up to silver. Repeated the process until gold, and now staying here. I don't like the idea of boss mode, sounds like they're taking the easy way out with the difficulty setting, but I can't say anything for sure since I haven't played it enough.

But I will kick anyone without necessary loadout. Call me elitist ****** if you want, that won't change the fact that the person is horrible at games and wants to be carried because that is all he is capable of. I was bad when I started playing video games. I played like an ass, learned, actually listened to the players that knew what they were doing, adapted them to my game. Bam, here we are, now I can play games without anyone having to carry my ass everytime I pick up the controller.

Hey, I like Magikarp, only after evolving of course. A mothereffin Gyarados, you can't stop this level of awesomeness.

As a person with N7 rating 128, playing gold and doing fine, I say - don't bother, we'll find people to play with. Thing is - N7 **** (lol since when n@zi is banned word? you have **** in your history books as well? :D, anyway -->) disappoint even more than those kill hunters with high level guns.

I agree with you OP on gold, generally, it will make the community better if they get to experience the difficulty level in person and learn from people who know how to play on that level.

For platinum, I would have to say no. Platinum is largely a grind with the high amount of boss/armored enemies. Not having the proper equipment will just mean failure or an hour-long match.

And instead learn the benefits of leeching? Maybe they'll go back to bronze, and there realize there are far more credits to be earned in the higher difficulties. They were already carried one match, doesn't mean it has to be their last.

Taking the time to help a new guy along would be the mature thing to do...so it probably doesn't happen that often when credits are on the line.

This. Players without any sort of basic game knowledge, like "this boomstick shoot in bursts, and this - in single shots", or ANY idea on objectives, or enemy types and behavior. They must not play gold+, because they either get scared off with seemingly hard difficulty or get used to leeching off team mates. Both is bad. My suggestion for new players is: start from Bronze and once you feel confortable enough, raise the bar. Slowly.
I will continue kicking players with low level weapons or leaving the lobby once I see them, except for special occasions like skilled players in lobby not minding their presence. Nothing personal.

You don't send National Guard reserves on Navy Seal missions. They should work their way up to Gold, like the rest of us did.

You know what I did when I got this game in March? I played on a higher difficulty than what I and my teammates could handle: Bronze.... It took me weeks untill I could 100 % extract from geth/bronze/reactor.
I got my ass kicked and beat. And I effin learnt from it. I got better.
Useless people should stay in a difficulty where they'll learn and their actions won't be detrimental to the teams survival

Can't drive? No problem bro, I'll teach you in a jiffy! Hop into my Lambo first, and put it in first gear. Don't know how? Simple, press on the clutch, push this lever like this, but make sure to disengage the afterburners, or you will crash into a horrible death.
Yea, that's what we're discussing here. Two banshees and a brute looking forward to re-arranging your internals isn't the best learning environment.

i politely inform them of their situation on the mic and proceed to tell them they can stay if they want to, but i also let them know how to set the difficulty from random to bronze incase they do leave.

the point is not if i could carry them, the point is they may not have any fun in their 1st game, especially if they are new to shooters and such.

no point in being a rude a-hole to someone, unless they are a Douchebag to me or in game 1st.

believe it or not there are nice cool people out there, i know.... its hard to believe after 5 seconds on these forums but it is true.

besides everyone i play with could be a potential friend until proven otherwise.

I agree with NuclearTech completely. If they are lower than N7-120 (like N7-30 for example) there is very little you can learn from gold especially if you do not have/use a mic. It is best to drop the difficulty back for them if they want to learn.

I have seen this way too many times where lower level players end up leaving the game after the first objective wave. Also, put on equipment! No gear by itself doesn't count. Yes, I do understand the fact that gear and equipment do not denote that you will achieve certain victory; however, I do recognize the fact that it does increase the player's damage output and or survivability. It also shows that you care about the match in that you have something to lose. Their choice of kit's and loadouts are completely irrevelant in my eyes. If there is someone out there who can use the Avenger on Gold or Platinum and contribute with it, I'm all for it so long as they have equipment and use it. After that, it's all how they perform or try to perform.

TL;DR : N7 irrevelant, Challenge points irrevelent, Kit's and Loadouts irrelevent. Reasonable equipment in use if applicable (obviously level <N7-120 won't have much in the order of equipment may advise trying lower difficulty first), otherwise let's play. After that, up to the player if they can stay in the next lobby.
