decided to check out the "demo" Character Creator which supposedly
came with a +1 all stats ring that I figured SOMEONE in my parade of
misfits could use.
Unfortunately the unexpected happened - normally I install
"addon"s and utlities like this to the same folder as the original
game itself. Bad idea. Doing so resulted in such rampant corruption that I
had to uninstall the game and character creator completely. This is where
things got messy.
Reinstalling the game results in a 100% replicable error (at the very end) that
cancels the entire installation and wastes a good hour of my time. Now, a few
things to consider -
Not only is my disk pristine, but has already proven to work on this machine.
Furthermore, the disk also works on my laptop without any errors (at about 5x the speed... I think I need a faster DvD Drive), so the problem is not the physical media.
Ultimately, I think the uninstallation process was faulty, and left corrupting garbage in my registry, highlighted by the fact that DA:O still appears on my Add-remove programs list in the control panel.
Any suggestions would be helpful, as I'm almost to the point of having my registration key for the game memorized I've imputed it so many times. x.X
