No offence to the OP, but can anybody explain this obsession with every minor character that people think should keep reappearing?
Happened when ME3 was coming out, is going to happen when DA3 is coming out.

People care about minor characters because of the potentional of what they could be

Merril was a very minor character in the beginning, though.

Merrill was a totally random person to bring back but I hope nobody's holding their breath over some of these obscure people.

Personally, I don't think we need any more of that.
As for the guy mentioned, wasn't one of the other options to kill him? If that's so, please don't waste time on a character who could be dead in certain imports - see, Nathaniel and Zevran.
And in any event, epilogue slides are rumor and hearsay - see, Anders dead in a circle of Darkspawn, Justice never heard from again, Leliana/companion of your choice never leaving the side of the Warden, etc., etc.

They should do what the elder scolls did with that cat person, he seems to show up in most games can't recall his name
Ma'iq the Liar. Showed up in every chapter from Morrowind on. I actually beat him in a race from Anvil to Leyawiin.
Would have been nice if Bioware HAD put in a character like that in DA.

i beg to differ, a generic sheep herder does not make for a compelling protagonist companion
Companion? Never.
A generic sheep herder, farmer, merchant, street rat, or orphan turning into a compelling leading protagonist of nearly every fantasy novel or rpg? Always...

How do you know if you would care about them or not, if they haven't received proper exposure?Lee80alabama wrote...
I personally hope they use the resources on characters that people would actually care about.
Bioware creates the characters, so I trust them to know best who has the most potential.
