Not only does my character get a pink perfumy trail, but the framerate also drops... any way to turn off the visual effect?
Song of Courage causes annoying framerate drop

Yeah. Go into the tactics, and replace that tactic with something else. Between that pink smoke, and the other needless buff effects, the game is barely playable, and it spoils the mood of the storyline conversations when your party looks like times square.
It's like I'm RPing a traveling rave party!

Never had this problem, then again I am on a PC. None of the visual effects were too much. If anything, I'm waiting on a new 24 inch LCD HD screen for my PC to crank up the visual on my screen.

At least there's a mod for the pc to remove it...
My crappy pc cant handle most flashy stuff, but at least its still playable.

I dislike the aggressive shader effects as well- they are gaudy, and detract from the visual experience for me, so I use a mod called "Personal Annoyance Remover" to eliminate them. I don't think that option exists for the 360, unfortunately. But you might try disabling persistent gore to increase FPS- those decals add up over time, and ultimately contribute nothing, imo.

Bioware has never understood the concept of less being more when it comes to that stuff.
I get the luxury of walking around with a 15 foot green neon circle at my feet, while I have pink smoke covering the whole screen. Then all the weapons have their needless effects firing off all the time, so I have a never ending fire explosion and electrical storm on my back (along with all my party members). Then Alistare has his little red drops floating upwards..
etc..
etc..
It's fun trying to navigate conversations at 5 fps!
There are already buff icons on the screen. That is all that is needed. Sometimes it's impossible to follow a fight, because there is just particles all over the entire screen. It's like a fireworks screensaver kicked in.
