Is it better on the batbrawler than the raider at close range? I suppose since you can snipe with it, it has addl versatility.

Yep, I actuallly miss the second shot with the Raider a lot, I usually use the Wraith or the Crusader on him, at close range the Crusader will almost never miss (and the heavy melee is better in most situations) even with its kickback, and if you're facing a sync killing enemy you can snipe at a safe distance.

The Crusader is a very nice Headshot sniping device, better to use when hosting though. On the other hand getting the Eagle upgraded when you could get a Hurrican instead to do the job better...Is more than mildly irritating.

Crusader would be perfect if it didn't have that retarded effing shot delay. It is literally the ONLY reason i don't use that weapon.
