I apologize for not appearing here that often and spending more time on the BGEE boards as I'm more of a casual gamer into chit-chat than a hardcore no-reload gamer, but you guys are still the best in helping out people who get stuck in vanilla BG, so I'd like to ask you for help:

This time I'm not stuck because of a difficult fight, but because of a bug:

Amniralda, my Totemic Druid, is undercover in Ust Natha and has just recieved both the fake eggs from Phaere and the fake eggs from Solaufein. Like in my previous two playthroughs, I want to exchange the eggs inside the temple without making whole Ust Natha hostile. So I've tried to just kill the two egg guards and the golems though. What happens though is once I've killed the egg guards, the whole city of Ust Natha, temple area and city itself, turns hostile.

I've tried every solution I could find:

- I made sure I killed the egg guards out of sight of other guards of course - didn't help.
- I tried sending Minsc in with improved invisible cast on him and stealth activated, then exchange the eggs without lifting a blow to the guards and golems - didn't help.
- I tried the CLUA command CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("DROWCITYHOSTILE","GLOBAL",0) after the city turned hostile to remove the hostility - didn't help
- I tried the CLUA command CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("DROWCITYHOSTILE","GLOBAL",0) before I went in in an attempt to prevent the hostility activating - didn't help
- I tried opening the Savegame of the hostile city with Shadowkeeper and manually altering the value of DROWCITYHOSTILE in Global Variables from 1 back to 0 - didn't help
- I tried skipping the battle with the Ghanaudaurs after recieving Phaere's eggs to see if the problem was me taking too much time - didn't help

I did do the Deneirex lich quest before recieving Phaere's eggs, giving back the soul gems but being quite rude in my remarks while doing that - could it be the ones who gave me the rope revealing me out of spite?

Strange thing is, the mods and tweaks used for this install are the same as for my Blade Kheltick, who did manage to do it stealthily.

My WeiDu:

side-question: how do I hide the WeiDu log for easier readability of my post?

doesn't help clearly.

When you attack the egg guards, does one of them last long enough to shout an alarm? Try max buffing your party, turn them all invisible, position them evenly about the 2 guards, Pause, and then slaughter them with simultaneous attacks.
If it doesn't work, it is always fun to fight your way out thru the whole city Image IPB

I tried the save from the other game, my Blade, who did manage. It turns out the city (and the golems) remain blue if I kill them quick enough so as not too shout an alarm. What goes wrong everytime with Amniralda, is either they do indeed get the time to shout an alarm or one of the guards panicks when the other is slain and runs out of the door.

I think the problem can be nailed down to Amniralda's party being exhausted from two consecutive hasted fights (first Deneirex, then the Ghanaudaurs). I just found out after recieving the eggs, you can rest without Phaere turning hostile because of impatience. So I will try again with a rested and hasted party. I'll leave fighting out of the city to you hardcore gamers, if I can.

Thanks for your speedy assistance, my friend.

I just have a Thief sneak in, switch the eggs and sneak back out. She is invisible, has Boots of Speed and maybe a Cloak of Non-Detection. She politely closes the treasury door behind her after she has the eggs. Golems always turn hostile but the guards do not. Rest of party is well away from the door.

Very tired now from all the retries, especially last night, when I got so frustrated I kept trying and went to bed way too late, but I managed!

Indeed it's much easier with a well-rested hasted party to smother their alarm-call, than with a weary party that has no haste spells left.
