If da3's main focus is the whole templar/mage thing, I'll just put my head down on my desk and take a nap in defeat.

If that's the case, then I'll be playing as much like a 40k ]|[nquisitor as possible. Which is to say I'll be burning heretics, their families, their dogs, and their entire towns to the ground left and right if I so much as catch a wiff of !!!HERESY!!!.

They were stupid enough to not include Female Dwarves in DA2
They were stupid enough to not test to see if ME1 Shepards would load into ME3 properly
They were stupid enough to make half of ME3 auto diaologue
They were stupid enough to remove races for voices, and then saying going back on that would be a step backwards

So yea...

Would it help if Gaider has explicitly denied that the Dragon Age team are taking any cues from the Mass Effect Team?

Edit: Not to mention that the Dragon Age decisions you're citing were still less annoying than this would be...

They explicitly denied taking cues from the Mass Effect Team and then added Mass Effect origins to DA:I. I don't really care what they say. It is what they do, which has not been encouraging.

No that would be insane and a possible killing blow to bioware

Can we exaggerate that statement a little more? I don't think you quite did it enough. We should also assert that changing one aspect of the story that most people don't care about will also immediately bankrupt every company involved in making this game and every system to which it is released. It will also kill puppies.

Hmm... I smell conspiracy theory. I will now interpret this as Sebastian being in the game as a companion for sure... :bandit:

A better question ... why do they keep beating this puddle of goo which was once a dead horse? How many friends have to become crazed blood mages and/or taken over by demons?

I hope that after the prologue is done the whole mage/templar thing moves way way way into the background ...

But can I profess a love for waffles in game regardless? Sorry, my real-world love just spills over into games, and I demand that my every whim be represented via dialogue choice.

They did everything they could to make us be pro-templar in DA2, and it still didn't work in most cases. They didn't seem to be too happy about that. So the question is, are they, as with the ME3 team's response to the ending hatred, going to double down on their "artistic integrity", or are they going to, like Chris Avellone tends to suggest, let us choose? We'll see. I actually have more confidence in this team, storywise, than the ME team, oddly. For all DA2's issues, the overall storytelling was stronger, and while the ending had problems, it wasn't the complete disaster ME3s was.  The DLCs were a vast improvement on the game, and the team, especially Laidlaw, seemed to learn and understand many of the criticisms.

I do think it's acceptable for us to be working for inquisition at the start, mind you, so long as we are allowed to have opinions and make choices. I mean, I didn't get to choose whether to be a Gray Warden either, and that was ok.

Yeah, I think that's reasonable, as long as you can have various explanations of it. You had to join the Wardens, but you never had to like the Wardens. That's the difference I see.

Well, and this involves spoilers from Asunder
At the end of asunder, both the templars( and seekers) and the mages break away from the chantry,.. so I'm assuming the inquisition is independent of both, and is just investigating both equally
Sorry if somebody already said this btw
